Forced induction

Ok I'm a "noob". I remember reading but can't find it again about turbo charging an supercharging the same engine. I was wondering if anyone has twin charged or is going to twin charge there motor. Also I know it will be a lil costy to do an was wondering if it is worth it to turbo an supercharged the motor

Zguy 03-14-2010 08:14 PM

probably not worth it.

Is this a serious question...?

There is a tuner in Japan, that has a twin charged GTR (1000HP) and it blows tranny's all day long. I don't see how it would be feasible.

Good luck finding a shop that will tackle that project!
If you do I promise they will have your car for months trying to fab parts and tuning if it is even do-able within an appropriate amount of time.

Very cool to do, not really practical or financially feasible. If you want to find the other thread i got into more info in it. I don't have that many posts on this site so you could probably search my posts and find it pretty quick.

How would you do it though? 2 intercoolers? Or completely seperate piping?

From Super to Turbo to Engine...
Inert Air >> SC >> TC >> IC >> IM?

From Turbo to Super to Engine...
Inert Air >> TC >> SC >> IC >> IM?

From Super, through IC, to TC, through 2nd IC, to Engine?
Or hell... Inert Air >> SC >> IC >> TC >> IC2 >> IM

SC - Super Charger
TC - Turbo Charger
IC - Inter Cooler
IM - Intake Manifold

I'd love to see that shops engine bay diagram... The Piping alone would be interesting to see...

What if you did one of those STS setups with the Turbo @ the Muffler?

But turbo's generally run at a higher PSI than SC's right? So you'd have to put the SC before the turbo if you're going to use the same piping, since you'd rather have the lower pressure SC feeding the turbo, rather than blowing your SC by feeding it from the higher pressured turbo?

Hmmmm.....

I have no clue where I read it at. I'm looking through recently bought magazines. I think I seen a article about it in Dsport magazine of march 2010 issue. If I find it I will post article of it

Twin charging a Z or GTR is really more of a novelty thing than it is a practical thing, not to mention a massive maintenance/troubleshooting/plumbing nightmare :)
