90°C = 194°F
100°C = 212°F
115°C = 239°F

Good temps for such a behemoth!

m4a1mustang 05-24-2010 05:52 PM

Indeed. With no oil cooler I was up to 250 on the dragon.

Thanks, this Florida heat is kicking my ***...

I felt that too. Freaked me out at first.

FuszNissan 05-24-2010 08:07 PM

Yeah, it was a weird feeling. Not sure what was going on. Oh well, it was fun!

Almost like it was accelerating when I let out the clutch. I noticed it more on down hill hair pins. Then on level hard down shifts to second it was like the RPM's could have been another 500 higher. It would jerk as soon as I let out the clutch. So I just ran without the SRM for the rest of the trip. I am not sure if the tranny was just to hot and it was messing up?? Who knows. I can see if you are running those roads a tranny cooler would come into play. But other than that the car pulled hard and handled well. I would encourage everybody to come down atleast one year... that was hella fun!!!

I used SRM the entire time, and felt fine to me. I'm no tuner, but do you think the SRM algorithm may not be optimized for the engine RPM characteristic under boost?

I wasn't experiencing any issues with the tranny, I was consistently down shifting to second for heavy engine breaking and acceleration through each turn. After running out and back I was finally able to get engine oil temp to 290 F and trigger limp mode for a minute. But most of the time my engine oil held at 280 F.

I agree, new pads will be a must next time. Having said that, the Sport Brakes held up MUCH better than the Base brakes on my '03 350Z. One run on the Dragon and they were trashed.

m4a1mustang 05-25-2010 08:30 AM

My Hawk HPS pads did really well.

FuszNissan 05-25-2010 09:58 AM

Well, Z1 is coming out with some J hook rotors. I will be going to those and getting some hawk pads as well. I have been dying for some J hooks!!!

I am not sure about the boost and SRM. It's never been an issue until the dragon. It happened twice and I turned it off. Just felt like the car was surging on the downshift, which wasn't good accelerating in mid turn....talk about effing up your line.

pulpz 05-25-2010 11:41 AM

Yeah so I plaid around with the SRM at lunch a little more. Lou, I think your might be right about it being slow in 2nd gear. It seems like down shift to mid-rpm in 2nd ~4500 gives a brief overshoot to the RPM up to 5000. It takes maybe few tenths of second to settle to 4500. This was at constant speed. under breaking with FI I'm guessing the surge with the overshoot is probably alot more noticeable.

Most of the time on the Dragon I was downshifting to 2nd at higher RPM while initiating breaking, and didn't really notice the overshoot.

Yeah, I had to turn it off, fear of going into the turn too deep for my set up. It was scary the first time it did it.

FuszNissan 05-26-2010 02:09 PM

I have some GoPro vids. But doesn't really do any justice.

At this point Fusz anything will do justice. :)
