Always wanted a golf R actually. But I would take this thing over a golf R any day. Only 3 cylinders to build!

:wtf:

Cost just as much money as a 4 banger. Cute car tho.

Got some useful stuff from amazon. Going to do my first oil change on the car. Usually I can't be assed to do these things myself but I wanted to add an oil spout "just because"

not terribly interesting to most of you probably but it is what it is.

And for when I put the spacers on, if z1 will ship them already!

Did you get the bolt on spacers? If so, just make sure you get some thin walled sockets, thick wall won't fit for the install.

I had planned to do extended arp studs and slip on. Until I realized I couldn’t find shank style open ended lug nuts. So I switched to the z1 bolt on style in 20mm front and 25mm rear.

This is the socket I ordered do you think it will work?

It should. I have the same one as part of a set and it worked on my 2012 & 2015.

So I got a response to an email I sent to SCE gaskets. HPA did an interview with then a while back

Thanks for your inquiry! Yes, the VQ series is in development now. Please check back mid-summer for an update.
I was specifically asking about their vulcan steel ring + composite gasket.

I wont be even close to building my engine before summer. Probably another summer or two AFTER this one.

Not super interesting but I finally got my spacers and lugnuts.

SeeThruHead 02-03-2021 05:48 PM

Spacers make these look much better. Kinda thinking I should have done a 25mm up front too tho.

I installed my lighter ebay clutch spring today. In the parking lot of a plant nursery in -5 degree weather. Was actually really easy. I drove the first half of the day on the oem spring and then rest on the new one. Can't say I felt much of a difference really.

These guys keep popping up in my social media

The video on the page seems interesting. Not that I need it but I wonder if anyone has looked into this before. Also they are local to me which is nice.

So we have our 200 Nm target and we have, via wastegate control, a throttle inlet pressure that is higher than our requested manifold pressure. We call the difference between TIP and MAP the “Throttle Plate Delta Pressure” and this intentionally generated pressure difference is what makes the modern control system work.

The ECU is now able to control the inlet manifold pressure by regulating the amount of airflow allowed to pass through the throttle blade from the intake system. Having a little more air pressure in the intake system than the manifold gives us an instantly available reserve of pressurised air and thus instantaneous throttle response when needed. Let me try and put that into a couple of scenarios.
super interesting stuff
