Has it been discussed about lowering the compressions on these motors to 9:1???

Yeah but if you lowered the compression then you'd have to up the PSI which would equate no differently on the stress put on the motor to achieve the same horsepower. 400 is easily done on stock block but mid 500 you probably would want to start to secure your investment more.

Pardon me if the questions are dumb.

Yeah on the GTM TT kit I wanna say the graph I saw(if i remember all this correctly) showed the turbos going strong at 3-3500..which is good enough for me !:driving:

If I had the money, I would maintain the stock compression with a forged roatating assembly and stick about 10 psi into the combustion chambers.

I think what he was trying to say with the unequal sized turboes is running the 2 exhausts into a Y pipe that would feed into the smaller turbo to spool up a larger turbo that would in turn be fed to a one inlet 2 outlet IC and on to the TB's and plenum...... I have always wanted to try it because in theory it would work but as far as if it would be cost efficient that is what I dont know. Having a small turbo that spools quickly would still push boost into the plenum then once there was enough pressure the large turbo would spool I guess theoretically you might be able to have boost through out more of the power band. Who knows lol

LiquidZ 10-09-2009 07:15 AM

GTM, have you guys conducted any testing to see how the turbo impacts oil temperature?

1slow370 10-09-2009 07:38 AM

OMG so many theories that are half baked or half explained in one place it should be made a crime. For the people with the differential/sequential turbo setup idea, think fd rx7(one combined cast manifold feeding the exhaust sides of two different sized turbo's with a valve that switched the flow between the two). For cars like ours a divorced bank system works great for packaging, and lets you put the turbos right next to the manifolds for the most flow and heat retention. I would suspect that the stock manifold is MOSTLY separated but retains an inner passage that links the 2 plenums together molded into the plastic. Think balance tube on a VG engine. It is nowhere near what you need to be able to run two dissimilar turbos, which wouldn't work anyway due to the uneven exhaust backpressure. You could brobably get it to work if you did a single kit and used a mazda style turbo setup but those setups are mostly crap and get changed out for single turbo setups because they aren't very good for high horsepower applications. I vote we let GTM do the thinking.

Edit: Surprised no one has thrown out series twin turbos while you're at it geez we could run like 50psi:rolleyes:

Also it's called any supercharger that isn't centrifugal(boost ramp) or hey just a bigger motor your looking for postive displacement.

I heard from a little birdy that someone in GA is getting a stage 3 kit with all the extras! I wonder who that could be...

Keep in tune guys for a full build thread with all the details! Major props to the guys over at GTM! Sam alone has made this build possible without him it would still be in the planning stages :D by the way GTM has some of the BEST Customer service around!

Kastley85891 11-09-2009 06:59 PM

Neat thread for discussion,, Id like 2X 18 or 20G ish size turbos with 44mm external gates, 1 for each bank of three, moderate size FMIC , spooling by 3300 in third and 3100 in fourth, nice.
What ever comes out I will watch with interest. Should ROCK

Tuning in!! Please keep this thread updated :)

bullitt5897 11-16-2009 11:16 AM

ohh we will! :excited: we are initially aiming for 500hp Daily Driven 93 octane on dyno dynamics! Our ultimate goal... 1st 1000whp Z34!

terrycs 11-19-2009 06:35 PM

I found a GTM powered Z. Very clean build. You in here?:

Bullitt,

Who's doing your work? I'm also in the ATL area and I wouldn't mind knowing a decent shop when I look to a TT kit for mine.

terrycs 11-19-2009 10:11 PM

Car sounds crazy even at idle:

bullitt5897 11-20-2009 07:54 AM

Forged Performance is doing my install. They have gotten a new group of guys added to their shop (Scott, Decker, and many others) all of which do amazing work! I cant wait for Scott to get a hold of my car and works his magic for tuning. Scott is very particular about tuning and every car I have seen from him runs perfect! PM me if you have any questions :D

Note to self: Don't race the white Z around the Gwinnett Mall area! Just acknowledge and allow him to be on his way. ;)

Bumping GTM TT threads as I read them... reminding them I'm around ;-)

bullitt5897 02-19-2010 10:17 AM

My car is at Forged Performance waiting on the last of my parts to arrive so they can get this build done... Woot soo excited! Hopefully Sam will have them to the shop by Saturday so I can make my scheduled release and get the car on TV down in Daytona for the AMA Event!

<wondering> If I let bullitt's Arabian-heritage stud mount my gorgeous looking little topless girl, what would the result be... :happydance: :driving:

^^^ :rofl2:

JB-370z 03-01-2010 06:15 PM

So could you have a tune for 500hp and a tune for 750hp if you wanted too, or is that too big of gap in hp. Conservitive tune for better gas consumptions etc. and tune for track and drag.
I know you will need to build the engine first before that kinda power.

My own thoughts on what I want to do with my engine.
I would like to get sleeves and over bore to 3.8L and lower the compression. I would like to have a tune of about 450hp one at 525 and another at 600. Would this be possible?

Anything else I need to do to get the 600hp mark safely? ti springs?
Is sleeves, pistons, rods enough to protect the engine for that kinda power?

I dont want to go over 625hp for sure. I will kill my self at the track :)

theDreamer 03-01-2010 07:12 PM

You can have multiple tunes, though I bet you will like the 600 to much and get bored of the 450 very quickly. ;)
Though for travel it might be nice, then when at the track pump it up to top end power.

JB-370z 03-01-2010 07:42 PM

I am going to go with an HKS ECU. With my HKS Camp2 I can change my fuel maps on screen. I know I will like the higher tune better but the thing is I don't race on the street, only on track so when I am on the street I will need it to be in chill mode :)

shabarivas 03-01-2010 09:28 PM

sounds sick man... but why do people want over 400whp in these cars? Its going to be un-drivable around town lol...

JB-370z 03-01-2010 10:31 PM

I guess for the numbers, I have a friend that is a dyno queen and I would like to show his WRX up. :)
This is why I want a couple of tunes. That way I can pick how I want drive via tune. Im not sure if this is possible though. Trying to get an idea of parts I need.
I want to be able to run with my friends 550hp supra and friends WRX @ 460hp. But more than anything I would like to be a Porsche killer. If I could beat a GT3 RS from 0-100 my mission would be complete. I dont think that goal is unrealistic.

Zguy 03-02-2010 06:29 AM

very realistic :)
