Boost Issues

Car has been constantly hitting 13lbs and just recently only hits 8-9 and starts to taper off between 5-6 rpm. Can anyone point me in the right direction boosted performance with comp turbo.

Are you on a boost controller or is it spring pressure only? It is most likely a boost leak somewhere but what it could be is your vacuum lines to your boost controller have a leak and they become non functional.

Also watch your AFR and stay out of boost. You are probably running pig rich and can cause all kinds of issues if you keep getting into boost.

Replied to your PM.

Have not hooked up my controller yet. It’s running off of spring pressure for the moment.

It’s a boost leak ... check couplers at throttle bodies then work your way down the intake pipes till you get to turbo ... or you can have it smoke tested to locate it... also check the vacuum nipple on the driver side intake pipe .. the one in the bottom side .. I had mine rub and cut the vacuum line there and I was only getting 8 ish lbs

So no leak. Could it be a spring issue. Waste gate starts to open at 6 lbs

Which wastegate spring are you using? You don’t have a 13psi spring in on a stock motor do you? I am wondering if instead of having a boost leak now, you had overboost before.

Do you remember the color of the spring ...yellow was the 7lbs spring ....and did you tune it at 13 lbs?

probably not your issue but for anyone who comes through..if you're experiencing boost sputter it could be incorrect spark plug gaps. i went to a shop to get valve covers fixed and i left with a sputter when i entered boost. it took me a while to find the cause bc i thought it was a boost leak somewhere.. while i had things apart i decided to check my gaps and to my surprise all of my spark plugs had magically changed to oem gaps (someone at the shop ). i brought them back to FI specs and the sputter went away.

Forgot about this thread. I was using the yellow spring. Switched to the black and adjusted my boost controller. Everything is good
