Exhaust options (Boosted)

Hi all,

So i recently went from N/A to a twin turbo setup..and boy my car is quiet now! I love the sound of some GTR's, my 370 sounds so tame right now.. very muffled.

I dont use cats and run the Fast Intentions 2.5 inch exhaust system with 12 inch resonators.

Fyi: i dont like straight pipes or super super loud cars, i also dont like my exhaust to drone.

What are you guys with turbo's running? Any opinions on 2.5 vs 3 inch?

I run an FI 3" exhaust no cats and no resonators. Probably not as loud as the 2.5 but it does sound like a baby GTR lol. The single exhaust setups will be louder but not GTRish imho. FI has come out with a 10 muffler than sounds awesome on a NA car and is louder than their regular cans!

with turbo setup only thing you can really do is remove any mufflers...I ran just the resonators and short tails with my turbo setup ...sounded really good ...idle was nice low tone ...going through the rpm range sounded great and increasing loud ....it was just a little too loud for me so I added the top speed axel back ....sounds just like I wanted it to.

You could probably just remove yours and see what you think. I never ran a muffler on any of my turbo cars and I don't like obnoxiously loud.

You may still be legal. My state considers turbos to be mufflers.

Hows the drone on your car when cruising? 3 inch should be louder than 2.5

Did you run 2.5 or 3 inch? I think the pipe diameter makes a big difference too

There is no drone at all. I have 3" exhaust system from down pipes through the exhaust. The result is more air flow and less decibels. I will be getting a set of turn downs. I would say mine is about 94dbs. The tone is spot on!

I can't wait to hear mine with the Carbon Fiber mufflers. Not much longer I hope.

I love the tone of those carbon cans...they are not practical for the track lol.

LOL, I guess I strive to be different. We'll see how I like them. You never know, I may get a set of 10in. mufflers and have them ceramic coated black.

Can you explain how the carbon differences from stainless in exhaust note? How would you describe it?

FYI: my perfect combination before was test pipes (non res) with a Invidia Gemini catback system. Zero drone but loud on downshifts and stepping on the throttle. Would be great if i can get that kind of sound back

I wouldn't say it is louder but has a guttural sound.

They have a carbon fiber Tingy sound especially in the higher RPM. I have them and have only heard a video of my car on the dyno. I can't wait to hear them in person.

By the way, I have been living off that video for the past month.

Or get a custom 4 inch single with a 3.5 down pipe.

Crappy vid but my Z is super quiet now vs when I was NA FBO.

I actually prefer that its quieter since I can hear the turbo more

I have the berk exhaust 2.5
