is that a 35 or a 40r with the 1.06 hotside?

shabarivas 12-28-2009 12:28 PM

my stock evo X ran close to 30psi... you run that on a stock block 370 or any NA car you will blow **** up man... our cars run closer to 7-12psi w/ some internal upgrades and not rebuilding the block

FuszNissan 12-28-2009 01:20 PM

7-9 Stock

RCZ 12-29-2009 12:19 PM

Correct. It made 460 AWHP at 28 PSI.

I said the same thing, but he only wants to make about 600whp, wants to keep it streetable.

StillenZ 12-29-2009 05:24 PM

So I want to stay on topic here but I am just curious as hell: Godzilla is saying he is uneducated, didn't graduate, and wants to go somewhere in life. I could be mistaking but I also think his profile says 2010 370Z?!?!?!? Sounds to me like your doin' damn good for a 20 y/o high school dropout.... Just my two cents... Sorry for going off topic, but some of these posts are just making me wonder the validity of this post in the first place lol.

CBRich 12-29-2009 05:53 PM

It doesn't have to make sense. It's the internet.

RCZ 12-29-2009 06:06 PM

I'd say rich mommy and daddy. But they wouldve pushed for better education and career. So either his construction job aint bad or he doesnt have the car. I think its the construction job one.

G37Sam 12-29-2009 06:21 PM

Dayum you guys are harsh, he walks in asking if he can push 20psi into his engine and you start profiling him lol

Even though you can push 500awhp on the stocker that's not an everyday thing. I ran 22.5psi consistently on a daily basis and 24psi on colder days and that's on a stock td0516g/10.5 hotside I dyno'd low but ran faster on the street then others that dyno'd higher. Weird.

LMAO, it's not weird, it's sick. I love the Japanese.

People are getting 500+ HP from 6-8 PSI...I can't imagine A) what levels of HP 20PSI would produce, and B) How long that engine would last, C) What else it would take to make sure that power gets delivered to the ground...ie, is usable gains...

LOL and Priceless +1 rep

StillenZ 12-30-2009 11:05 PM

<Off Topic> Wow... I'm sorry to yet again be off topic, but thanks for the explanation Godzilla. I love the fact that you gave us the whole scoop lol....Sounds to me that you could have a pretty successful life in construction but if it not what you what and also don't want to be a laborer your whole life then maybe school is the way to go. (And if it's something you really want to do, it sounds to me like your dad would help you out if you decided to move on to some technical school or college or whatever.) I'm 24 so I am not some smart guy that's got it all figured out but I definitely wouldn't be where I am or where I plan to be with out the education that I have. <Off Topic>

I have always kinda liked the STI's but just never tried to learn much about them. I can't believe what some of you guys are saying. Sounds like its pretty easy to tune one and get some good power.

Anyone have know what kind of money is involved in lowering the compression on the Z?

1slow370 01-03-2010 05:39 PM

well the forged performance kit is about 3900. wisco sells 9.0-1 pistons as well if you want to go the cheaper route. can't imagine a set of pistons costing more than 1500 with rings.

RCZ 01-03-2010 06:22 PM

making 450whp on an STI is not as easy as we're making it sound. Its a lot more involved than just slapping on a turbo. Honestly, I feel its easier to make 450whp using a SC on a 370z than it is to get a big turbo setup on the STI. The STI block just inst made for that kind of power...

CrownR426 01-20-2010 12:12 PM

20 psi, find me a kit too lmao

For me it was 3 months in the shop and just shy of $20K to get there correctly.

That's why I got the Evo vs. the Sti because 450whp is easily attainable on the Evo with out spending $20K. I'm not sure what you had done to the car to pay that much and have in the shop for three months? sounds kind of long and expensive.

Godzilla I hope you don't drive like you type because I am so freakin dizzy right now. I suggest you browse the forums for a while, without posting to get an idea how members here communicate and use proper punctuation etc.. and Google can be your best friend. for example if you want to learn more about specific cars, usually Wikipedia will be one of the first links and you can learn a great deal about that car, it's history, and even potential. Good luck, congrats on the Z, and take good care of her.

Zguy 01-22-2010 09:32 AM

a 370 on 20psi would be a 7-800 whp monster..... I would love to see it... or own it for that matter lol....

Thanks for the answer... That isn't bad at all considering the cost of a turbo or S/C setup...
