Well, if you have the time for it, it would be awesome if you could share the length of the shoulder for the M6 x 30mm bolts needed for the SC bracket! Ace Hardware says they are able to shave it down for more shoulder if needed as well, which is cool of them to offer! |
Quote:
275/35-19 front 305/30-19 rear. Otherwise your dashlights will be flashing because of the height difference. The difference is around 7.3%. What I posted is about 1.2% difference. Much better. 3% is the max difference you can go. |

How do they shave down a bolt for more shoulder. Sounds like they are just removing the threads. :shakes head: |

I will take notes of that! |

I actually gave Fastenal a call this morning and asked if they had the Flanged M6 x 30's / M8 x 30s and they said they had none of those...so he told me to check the website which I did. I will probably end up buying the bolts from Ace Hardware and anything I can't find from them will be ordered through the Fastenal Website! |

Out of these options for the Front / Rear tires, which ones would you recommend I get?
I see there is XL and non-XL ones for both options. Quote:
PS4S? Okay let me look that up. Nvm I just realized PS4S is Pilot Super lol. Oops xD Here this is what I found. |

Different images of shoulder bolts. The shoulder is the same diameter or larger then what the thread diameter is. https://www.google.com/search?q=shou...w=1280&bih=578 |

I guess I either need the specs of the shoulder on the bolts that fit the SC bracket and try to find it around either Fastenal or Ace Hardware. Or... I will need to continue to pester and bother Stillen until I get the information I need. It's so ridiculous how they only have ONE supercharger technician they rely on for the entire world for when people have SC inquiries regarding the Stillen SC products. At least that's what it seems like to me, every time I ask they always refer to Rob Moses as the technician. I mean it's cool they have one but ONLY ONE? It seems like that's a little too low for a company the size of what they are. Grr. |

Okay cool. No worries then, I was just trippin a bit. |
I have triple 8s and I've driven in light rain wet roads and temps as low as 45 degrees. The one important factor is that each time one of these happened it was a surprise. Had I known I'd be in either situation I would've been in my truck. That I was worried sick about what would happen for no reason at all. In adverse conditions with triple 8s you simply drive the car like you have an open bowl of gravy in the passenger seat. Follow that rule and you're good.

02/21/2019 Update:
- Eugene says assuming everything goes well between now and this weekend (installs, fixes, necessary repairs, etc), he can have the blower back in the car this weekend and start test driving while checking for leaks, etc! -- Knocking on wood! - I am going to pick up a used Crossmember Rear Subframe U Shape Stay Bracket for 2009 370z from a local shop. - I am going to pick up some M8- 1.25 x 30mm flanged fully threaded bolts from Ace Hardware, since Eugene said he he drilled out and tapped new threads into the timing cover where the supercharger mounts onto. He retapped the threads and stepped it up from M6 x 1.0/1.25s to M8 x 1.25s. The only thing he needs to do is enlarge one of the supercharger bracket holes just a tiny bit, or the slightly large screw will not go in. And that he already has the screws from Nissan needed but isn't sure about the other screws/bolts. We will find out when the supercharger is reinstalled what is needed/not needed, etc. - I am going to pick up everything I can from my garage and drop it off at Eugene's shop, since I am not going to touch these extra bolts / nuts / screws / parts again (Most of these parts are from the Red Z), I will give it to him to use for my car and anything unused I will donate to him to use for any future things he may need them for. My family be tripping about all these parts sitting in the garage so it will help me clear some space as well lol. - Ordering a new Front fender Liner Splash Guard for the driver side because the last one I had got eaten up by my tire lol (dont ask...!) - Ordering a new OEM [Rear Lower Control Arm] as Eugene said I need a new one - I may also order a new undercover splash guard for under the car in case I cannot find it in my garage for whatever reason...I wouldn't be surprised if it is missing too since I am seeming to be missing a million other parts lately, Haha. - Going to return my Optima Yellow Top Battery I bought last week to O'reilleys since Eugene bought me a different battery for half the price and says it is much better than the Yellowtop Optima. -- That's the current update! -- |
Hey cupcakez. You still have the diff bushing tool? Other people have been asking for it.
|
Quote:
Who needs it? Could you tell me the name? EDIT: Nvm. I posted on the thread itself, asking for whoever needs it still to send me a PM so we can work out details to get the tool to them. |
Wow, it took me forever to get through the first post! As someone who is using their 370Z to learn more about and modify cars, I love this thread. Will be staying tuned. Lets hope everything goes well between now and this weekend!

So I just placed an order for two tire replacements since that's all I could buy at the moment. I will eventually buy two more tires when I can, but for now -- I cannot.
The two rear tires I have on the car right now are Hankook ones which are all season. All season Front + Summer & Performance Tires Rear = Not really good ... so I will try my best to make it work to purchase 2 more MIchelin PIlot Sport 4S rear for 305s that way all 4 tires are the same type: Summer & Performance. I can probalby buy those in the beginning of March! I purchased (x2) Michelin Pilot Sport 4S -- 275/35ZR19s. When these two tires are delivered to Eugene's shop, I will go over to his shop and take those two tires + the current two rear bald tires to a local tire shop and have them swap out the rims and such, then bring those two back to Eugene's shop to put back onto the vehicle. I know this size is meant to go in the front, but for now, I need to put them in the back since the current ones are bald! Once I buy the other two 305 tires of the same type (michelin Pilot Sport 4S) I will swap the ones I just bought right now from the rear to the front, and then put THOSE two fat tires in the back. =============================================== I was also able to return a Yellow Optima Battery back to Amazon this morning for Amazon Gift Card Credit and the customer service agent helping me out told me I could keep the battery and that there was no need to ship it back to them. He was like this is a non-refundable item but /because you are prime member/, I will return it to for you, which he did. And I got my refund credit the a couple hours later. Yay! I also returned the other Yellow Top Optima battery to O'reilleys for full credit and that was given back to me on the same card I used, which was cool. This is how I was able to afford two new tires today, lol. =============================================== I am hoping that the current rims on the vehicle will be able to be used on the 305s that I will get later as I do not want to get different rims!! I do know that the current rims on the rear tires as it is right now can be transferred to the new tires I just bought because they are the exact same size, but not sure about the two in the front to be transferred to a much larger tire in the future (305s) |
Quick Tire Update:
- I managed to order all 4 tires today. No, I didn't go to a bank and steal money or anything illegal lol. I just found a way to get the 4th tire that I didn't think of until just now - All 4 tires will be sent to Eugene's shop next week, that way I can save money in balancing / aligning and transferring all the current rims to the 4 new tires multiple times and just do it all at once instead. Phew. My original plan was so much hassle that I can't even type it here because it was too confusing lol, and if I typed it it would come out wrong, so nope. Just going to say things are WAYY more organized now than it would have been if I had replaced 2 at a time -_- I just /REALLY/ hope I can re-use the same rims on my current Z tires...onto the new tires! |
Haven’t seen your rim or alignment specs posted,,,I’ll read back through:ugh2:

Most likely two of the rims i have wont fit the 305s but we'll see!! |
I bought two new TSW Nurburgring matte black rims. Shipping to my mechanic's place. On wed hopefully all 4 tires and necessary rims will be there. I'm going to transfer the 275 rims that's on the rear tires currently to the new 275 PS4S tires and put those in the front. The rims have to fit because they fit previously on the same sized tire.
And then I'm going to put the new 10.5" rims I just bought on the new PS4S 305s. I am 99.99% sure that the current rims on the 245s will NOT fit the 305s. |

So.
My illiterate dumb butt couldn't read the ancient language of wheels. I had to get pictures of it and ask other people what it meant. I'm really happy to know that the previous owner [forum user: 'aznroadster'] did not get rid of the rims he had that he previously posted up back in 2011 / 2010. These rims will directly transfer over to the new tires. My friend saved me from $800 on two new rims lol, so I will cancel the order. See how I said I was 99.99% sure? Almost doesn't mean NOT! Going to cancel the order whenever they are open. The rims weren't set to ship out until Thursday anyways -_- Way too long! At first I read it as... "What the **** does N936 19x91 /2J mean? I guessed the 41 was the offset and the 5x114.3 was the bolt pattern but the other numbers? No idea how to decode that. Then someone told me...No it means 19x9 1/2 and the other one says 19x10 1/2 not 19x101 / 2J lol. Super happy right now! Gotta go to work now, Cya folks! |
That’s an odd place to have markings on wheels; usually on the backside of spokes & sometimes on the inner barrel.

Yellow Mustard Zeed Timeline Update:
- [TUESDAY]: Fix idler pulley slot - [WEDNESDAY]: Put correct diff axles on - [THURSDAY]: Dismount and reuse rims onto all (x4) brand new tires, then slap them onto the car. - Then when my mechanic/tuner has time, he will test drive it for a couple hundred miles to check for leaks, and other maint. issues, he will tune it a little bit and once he feels it is safe, he will let me pick it up!! ...I asked if there was anymore hardware issues we needed to solve, I was told no, so lets knock on wood it stays that way lol. So I'm happy about that, means we're that much closer to being done!!! I also submitted a request for returning the stub axles that Z1 sent me but was incorrect parts. They never gave me my RMA number!!!! Super annoying. So im going to call them tomorrow morning and complain about that cuz i kinda need the refund back asap lol I managed to cancel the rims order i made on CARID which had a 10% restocking fee (so in total im paying 70 to return it, oh well!) Better than paying 700 for rims i never needed in the first place lol. And im going to pick up the 2 parts nneeded to finish the diff this wed and drop it off at the shop. |
Sounds like a plan;
Hopefully won't be.... -[Tuesday]::icon14::icon14::icon14: -[Wednesday]::wtf2::wtf2::wtf2: -[Thursday]::eek::eek::shakes head: Good Luck...:ugh2: |

Lol right? With my luck, I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. Haha. But yeah! Thank you! I will definitely let you guys know how it goes!! |

Yes. Im 99.99% sure it was the same person who worked on my Red Z back when I did the initial engine swap (IPP going in for first time). That shop since then has known to be shady for quite a few things. Im sure the person who worked on it would never admit his wrong doings or mistakes on my IPP block he worked on (pulley being one of them). I dont wana start any drama so I didn't fully confront him about it but he knows what he did or didn't di. Hes lucky the engine is still running healthy though or I really would have went after him.
He denies it was him and that it was someone else who touched the engine after but fact remains is that nobody touched the pulley system after him cause there was no need to. It was just a straight swap from red to yellow lol. Only thing taken off was the engine harness really and the belt. Also. Update on timeline! 4th tire is coming in today instead of freaking Thursday, thank goodness. So this pushes things a bit ahead of schedule. Tomorrow I will do all the tire work at a local firestone in Eugenes city, and also pick up and deliver the two missing parts for the diff to be completed. This should be the last things, and hopefully he will find time to test drive it and tune it a bit while making sure all feels safe in his standards! More updates coming soon! |

02/27/2019 Update -- So I ran quite a few car-progress related errands yesterday!
- Picked up the correct non-threaded axles for my vehicle to fit the Quaife LSD that came from the Red 2015 base coupe model, dropped it off at Eugene's house - Took all 8 tires (4 old ones w/ rims + 4 brand new Michelin PS4S) to a local Firestone at Eugene's city to dismount old rims and put onto new tires, disposed the old ones at Firestone. Also bought new TPMS hardware for the tires as well which was also put on, and of course, all new tires were balanced. Once the tires are back onto the car -- we will find out of the check engine light is on. If so, we will reset the system so that it goes away! (This is in case it shows up though of course, due to new tires and the new TPMS hardware) - Eugene had to order a serpentine belt because the previous one that was being used -- when it fell off the drive belt for when the pulley slid out, it twisted and altered the integrity of it and is no longer good. - Eugene went out of his way to go to a machine shop and had them make custom oil adapters for the oil cooler sandwich plate to make sure it seats perfectly with no gap, as well as make the custom bolt to fit into the hole of the pulley that slid out. He picked those pieces up on Tuesday and put them into the car -- that's when he found out the drive belt was not long enough for some reason, so he ordered a belt 1 inch longer than that one he was trying to put on for so long (45minutes+). - We removed the 20mm and 15mm spacers that the previous owner of my Z had put onto the car - Eugene had trouble removing the old rear axles on the car because whoever had it before me, had messed with the axles and apparently on the nuts, cut slits into the difficult-to-remove nut. At first he tried a long extension breaker bar, but it would not budge. Then added a long metal pipe to make it about 4 feet or longer long, and still would not budge. So he grabbed his electric heat gun and we heated it up to 260+ degrees, then he used an impact gun and that is what made the nut come off the car, thankfully! Otherwise I would have had useless axles since we wouldn't have been able to remove it if it weren't for the heat! - The new belt that was ordered is coming in tomorrow -- we are hoping it will fit. If not, we will return it and get 1 inch LONGER than the one coming in tomorrow. - The only things left is the finish putting together the diff / axles area of the vehicle, find a correct belt that fits on the serpentine side, and top off car with necessary fluids. I will be using 5w-40 instead of 5w-30 oil now, since that is what he recommends (or 0w-40 I believe he said also works). - If all goes well, it will be able to be test driven for leaks and he will also finish tuning the car, then returned to me. Things he suggests I do when I get it back: (1) Alter the Y Pipe of the A2A kit, by using the original stillen SC charge pipe and cutting it to re-create possibly a better fitting, user-friendly and more service-able pipe (will require me to go to a machine or welding shop to create a custom pipe that makes things fit easier on my car) (2) Raise my car a little bit, maybe even back to stock height because right now, with the AAM oil spacer, that is now the lowest point of the car and it is actually pretty dangerously low...so I may need to raise the car a bit to be safe when daily driving. (3) Swap out the Stillen Exhaust system I have on the car which came with the purchase...back to a stock exhaust system since the stock exhaust system has a flex on it, while the stillen exhaust system does not have the flex part for the exhaust. It may not get as good air flow but at least there will be flex. (4) Eventually get new pulleys and replace the ones that have metal showing on the grooves because otherwise it will wear out my belts quicker if I keep it the way it is now. -- More Updates Soon! -- |
