Coolant issue with turbo

Guys my car is eating coolant through my turbo....come out through the exhaust as well...car won’t stay cool...is this because it’s a defect turbo internally?

This is not good. You need to get a leak down and compression test. It sounds like you blown the head gasket. Hopefully the head is not damaged. Might be time for a rebuild.

If you’re turbo is also water cooled, it could be leaking past those turbo seals.

Well it turned out to be the coolant line had a burnt hole in it...it was touching the intake manifold... fml

FML? Sounds like the best case scenario! =) Glad you found the problem!

:iagree: I was jumping for joy when I thought I may have blown head gasket. My coolant system did not get purged or burped completely and it would back fire violently and the car would go into limp mode. A mechanic at the track pointed out that it look like coolant coming from the exhaust. The first dye test should a slight leak. I then did a compression test on each cylinder and there was no leak. Seb purge the coolant system again and said he had a hard time getting the air out of the system and he did another dye test and all was good. He sent an oil sample to Blackstone and it should slightly elevated levels of phosphate and so fast forward 8 months several track days and the motor is as strong as it has always been. Yeah, I jump for joy every time I drive the car without visiting a auto shop after a track event. $1K for the fix beats $7 to $8K for a rebuild.

I don't get how having a hole in the line would cause it to come out exhaust?

Well I say FML because I didnt even have the car on the road for 200 miles after the install, but yes I was more than excited it wasnt more damage

I asked the same exact question. Only thing he told me was that I wasnt seeing coolant coming out of the exhaust to be exact. I just thought it was since I had coolant all over the rear of my car but he thinks it was just coolant running on the line and out the back.
