Intro
"Well, my Z is finally done. Pretty much at least . My aim for this thread is to provide my experiences with products and companies throughout my little adventure. Hopefully it will be a good source for anyone needing answers in the future. Its going to be a long thread but it should contain some good info." I'm on the same path - 4 years in build - 2 blown motors - and a ton of wasted time and money. I've got the AAM TT stage 2 turbos - the car was down there for almost 2 years. They (AAM) blew the (built) motor at 803 whp and 809 wtq. Did some background checking and it seems that AAM used to be Altered Atmosphere Motorsports - who incidentally, had to pull up stakes and move out of Dodge due to excessive customer complaints and financial trickery. Had to pull the car out of there and send it to MA-Motorsports (also in Maryland) MA-M is connected to the 370z community, is race oriented and does quality custom fabrication on the spot when needed. MA-Motorsports had to literally undo everything that AAM had done. If you are thinking of building your car definitely stay away from AAM and go with MA-Motorsports - you'll be glad you did and you'll save yourself a ton of money. Just to give you an idea - I paid over $6,000 for an EcuTek Flex-Fuel Tune there were also many other improprieties and 'creative' and Invoice abuses and unethical business practices along the way. Another example - after blowing the motor and trying to cover it up - they sent me an invoice of over $5,000 to do a leakdown test just to confirm that the motor was blown. This didn't include putting the motor back together nor did it include any other parts or work. Somebody Call the Cops .... I will be posting my experiences once I get my car back from MA-Motorsports and document my horrific experience with AAM. But in the meantime - stay away from AAM if you are planning an in-house Big Build ...:shakes head:.:shakes head:.:shakes head:... Your blood pressure won't skyrocket, your wallet will thank you - and you won't be losing sleep wondering what new dilemna AAM will be throwing at you - they have their hands firmly planted in you back pocket and won't let go until they get that last drop of green blood. The car is now in Tune at MA-M - with some other work to be done including an accredited NHRA roll bar. My experience at MA-M has been nothing but positive, professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Kudos for my friends down there - who, by the way have rescued other broken 370z's from the fiendish clutches of AAM. |
wow, thanks for good info, how much did you build cost? seems like you're 50k in

:eek2: If I didn't know you for over 2 years now, it would be hard to believe this. But gentleman, this guy is working from experience. That's insane and it's just a sad story of someone trying to have a fun, epic Z go south and take the fun out of a build. I sincerely hope you can get behind of the wheel and say...Oh yeah, it was all worth it!!! At that power level you probably will never be able to wipe the grin off your face!

That sucks man, hope you get everything straighten out
|
Damn bro, sounds like you have been through hell and back. I hope you get everything straightened out though with MA Motorsports behind the build now. Keep us updated. I'd like to know what all had to be redone when you get all the info.

Friends don't let friends send their car to a shop with the wrong combination of A's and M's.

The car has now been in 3 shops. 1st shop was for the SC'r upgrade = blown motor 2nd shop was AAM = blown motor 3rd shop is MA-Motorsports = should've had it built there the 1st time. A lot of money went in to re-doing work and correcting damage that was done improperly from the 1st 2 shops. |

Just spoke with Daelen at MA-M earlier today and he knows you and your build! Will definitely keep you posted - will be starting my own thread on this probably after the holidays. Don't want to hijack this thread any further. Aaron put a lot of thought and work (not to mention the hours of support) in to developing his upgrade A2A solution for the Stillen SC'r. At the time I didn't have any options except to go over to Turbos. But I'm still a SC'r guy deep down inside !!! |
