Turbo-Guard for Stillen build

Just wondering if anyone is or has used the turbo-guard screen instead of the k&n filter and what the power difference was? Any concern about sc/impeller damage? Wondering if the risk is worth the reward.

You will make a lot more power, but it is also likely you will severely lower the lifespan of your motor.

This might be a dumb question but how can it hurt your motor?

Because those screens don't filter anything out.

Yes, You will make insane power levels. StillenZ84 made over 700whp with that screen.

You will also be sucking in dust and small children.

I realize that but the stillen sc is set up high in the engine bay and behind the core support and is fairly protected unlike the turbo set up. Not saying that it couldn't suck something in though. Doesn't sound like the risk is worth the reward.

Plenty of dust and grit still make it into the engine bay. It's just not worth the extra power.

I am looking into extending my inlet via a sleeve welded on to use the fine mesh screen. Thoughts on this?

Yep, makes sense. I agree. Thanks.

You really wont gain much. Maybe Stillen has a really restrictive filter or something. It would be something that you would put on at the track, not for a street driven car. I have a 5" intake and filter on my supra and pulled it off and didn't feel really much of anything.

TopgunZ 10-25-2017 07:45 AM

We dont have 5" of room to put a filter on. If we did, this wouldnt be a discussion. I went from 10 psi to 15 by taking mine off. This was on the dyno.

Look, if done right, you can make 550whp with my kit with the filter on. Do you want to run more than that on the stock block anyway?

Ever tried this filter Topz?
