You won't see the difference in size of the impeller unless you open it up. It is the base diameter that is the difference. The top of the impeller is the same which is why they are interchangable. The inside allows for a larger diameter then the small Sci trim. I am not sure about the size difference but I think it is 3" for Sci and 3.25" for Si. Quick search can figure that out but I am just being lazy right now.. lol

Yeah I came across this after a bunch of searching and told the shop to let me know once he cracks it open. It's already packed up and I'm not going to undo 125' of bubble wrap, a whole bag of packing peanuts and one and a half rolls of packing tape lol

The volute opening on mine on the inside at the impeller is 3.02", so I take it 3.00 is probably the sci then the si being a bit wider sits further back and the blades run right to the edge behind the opening of the volute? Just trying to make sure I'm clear in this. There's a ton of bs on the internet, go figure, and not easy to find hard fast information on it. Even from Vortech, or perhaps especially from them. Their old site was a lot better and much more technical information could e readily found.

So I checked again quickly and it seems it is the T trim that is 3.25" and the Si is 3". Your volute is the correct size, infortunately you won't be able to know what the impeller is until it is opened up. I sincerely hope the guy you bought it from didn't bend you over and enjoy himself too much or else I will gladly go on a road trip to Louisiana with ya bud:happydance:

Found out the rebuild guy is booking about two weeks ahead right now. So with four days in either side for shipping I'm going to be without it st least a month, and that's if no parts need to be ordered.

So I rigged it up to run NA in the meantime. Slid a filter on where the blower was and fit perfectly. Might run a touch rich but otherwise should be about right for my current tune anyways since I'm logging normal driving keeping my foot out of the boost. Not what I was looking forward to but gets me out of the garage and doesn't have to sit there for another month or better.

How have you found the 928 Motorsports aluminium billet impeller?
I actually ordered and received one of these but the authorised Vortech dealer here in Australia said not to use it due to expansion/contraction of the aluminium which affects clearances and other issues setting it up properly. I ended up getting a credit for it and going with the Vortech Si impeller upgrade which also has the added benefit of a full warranty. :stirthepot:

i found this impeller is great if you want more low too mid boost, which i was looking for.
Fits great, no issues with it as of yet.

It gained me almost 40wtq over stock impeller.
