Castrol Edge/Mobil Full Syn/ ester?

Mobil 1's website says:
Quote:

Many synthetic oils, including Mobil 1, contain a variety of synthetic fluids, and usually this includes esters.
That's not very convincing, is it?

Mobil 1 also, in the last few years, changed their product from a Group IV synethic to a Group III blend, from my understanding.

If the esters are what you are truly worried about, stick with a Group IV or V such as Redline, Motul, Amsoil or Royal Purple. However, feedback from Mobil 1 and Castrol users indicates sufficient engine protection can be expected from these brands as well, whether or not these necessary esters are present.

None of this information is from my own experiences, only from reading dozens of threads on this subject on this forum.

Threads like these never turn out good.

I will be using Nissan Ester Oil exclusively as per Nissan's recommendation. :driving:

I use Royal Purple since the car has 3k miles. Happy with the results and no issues!

saying this for like the Nth now, Ester oils like redline are totally diferent from the ester oil in the 370z for the most part. the nissan oil is a special alcohol based ester that is present at 1.5% and the rest of the oil is conventional. The esters in redline are different kind of ester that has lubricating qualities and is about 90-100% of the contents of the bottle.

No, Nissan highly recommends using their brand of oil. No surprises there...

Hoover recommends that you use their vacuum bags too.

Just did my oil change at 700 miles with conventional 5W 30 Castrol GTX, will run this until 1500 miles, then dump it and probably do the same again at 3K.
I will probably go to Redline at about 5K
Your Mobil1 will be fine.
