Stefonelee Boosted Performance turbo build

Well lets get started.

I purchased my 370z back in June of 2014 with 20k miles on it in while i was stationed back at Ft. Bragg NC. Ive enjoyed every bit of the car besides the csc going out on it a month later while driving to see my parents in michigan, luckily it was under warranty.

After months of no mods to it, and recently moving to Ft. Benning GA I decided to search for some turbo kits for it. After my wife agreed that i could build my car lol I decided to take the splurge and go for the boosted performance turbo kit. After many great reviews of customer service, reliability, ease of install/diy I figured why not. This kit has some of the best quality parts I've seen so far in the business. My goal on this kit is 475 hp as my motor is not built.

Mods so far on the car:
HD CSC
New oem cmc
Z1 370z Clutch/Flywheel Combo/ Sprung Hub 6 Puck
Potenza RE-71R Tires

Waiting to be installed:
CSF Radiator
Innovate MTX-D Oil Temperature/Pressure gauge
AEM Wideband Failsafe Gauge Boost/Vacuum
Whiteline bushings

Will post pics this week

Thanks to Sasha, jwick,TcRocket and TheWeez for answering all of my crazy questions I have had so far with this kit while I'm in the process of installing it lol

All piping will be heat wrapped and also picked up a heat blanket for the turbo

We should be installing right around the same time. I should start recieving turbo kit parts sometime this week or early next week. I already have everything else in hand except the kit and the CJM fuel return which I ordered today.

You did the Jedi mind trick on me. I felt DIY shame so I'm doing it at my buddy's shop. You can claim 100% credit.:hello:

Im in the process of putting on the turbo manifold. Had the kit for quite some time just been working on it during the weekends as being in the military I get off late at times and have to spend time with the wife and finish up on some college classes at the moment.

So glad it's all done. Congrats!

Yeah feels like I been working on this install forever lol

Love reading these turbo builds. Can't wait to boost mines.

stefonelee 08-15-2016 07:19 PM

It's been a while since I last posted here. Here is my baby on the dyno at z1 motorsports about 2 weeks ago. Very happy with the end result and will be building the motor very soon. Not sure why I didn't boost my z sooner :)

time to get a boost controller...... nice power ...

Boosted Performance 08-17-2016 12:09 AM

Awesome results for 7.7psi, congrats.

One thing I noticed is that you heat wrapped the charge pipes from turbo to IC. That is somewhat counted productive, as you want all the heat to dissipate outwards from there. Cooler air is better in this case.

stefonelee 09-13-2016 10:59 AM

Thanks and I will have to get around this weekend to removing it.

Results so far driving it with the kit on, it's a complete different animal. Every time the boost spoils up I have the biggest smile on my face. I don't get on it at every street light but i do at times test the limits of it when I can. In the upcoming months I will be building the engine for more power. I have not made my mind up as to tuning it on e85 at the moment as the closest pump to me is on my military post, and the fuel pump just got fixed after being broken for around a year. Otherwise the other e85 pumps are about 25 miles one way. So not sure if it's worth the headache.

Congrats!!.. You can boost it more and make more power. You just need a good boost controller and new tune for a higher PSI and you are golden.

Update. Car won't start at all no codes come up when I try to troubleshoot it, any suggestions?

Boosted Performance 09-24-2016 08:42 PM

Check fuel delivery, and spark.

stefonelee 09-25-2016 07:09 AM

Ok. Will do

solidus 09-27-2016 11:07 AM

Just throwing this out there but also ask yourself how far away from the turbo did you raise the trans harness and whether or not you shielded the crank position sensor. My car went nuts on the dyno then shut off because I melted the trans harness. It would only start after it cooled down enough then eventually would'nt start at all. In the end I had to splice the wires. They were shorting from vibration but the heat had completely melted the plastic coverings off and it was a mass of strands neatly arranged. After splicing the wires were wrapped in titanium header wrap and firesleeving. Just a thought.

stefonelee 09-27-2016 02:17 PM

Thanks for the heads up. Once I get in today from work I will take a look underneath and see if I find anything out of place. I will be looking inside the fuel tank to see if the wires came disconnected. I believe that this is the issue since I would usually hear the fuel pump come on when I put the car in accessory mode but this weekend I didn't hear it at all.

stefonelee 09-27-2016 04:00 PM

Update: one of the wires were disconnected. I will get around to soldering them again tomorrow. Also does anyone know where you can purchase another c clip or retaining clip that holds the top plate to the fuel pump assembly?
Thanks

Just got a retune from Jon@Z1. Made some good numbers on my current setup. If anyone is on the fence about purchasing this turbo kit just do it. You'll be glad you did.

At what psi?

stefonelee 01-10-2017 02:28 PM

7 psi

EndlessZ 01-10-2017 05:17 PM

Wow thats amazing numbers for 7 psi! Can't wait for the day I can afford this kit.

stefonelee 01-10-2017 05:36 PM

Thanks, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Senna-F1 01-17-2017 10:34 AM

What's your exhaust setup? Is there a reason for the drop in TQ after 5200?
