Stillen chargecooler tank leaking

I think the cap is leaking on my stillen chargecooler tank

Is this a common issue , is there a better cap available

It says that its rated to 16 psi on the cap which would make it capable of holding the coolant in the tank at over 100 degrees c , does the coolant get anything like that temperature?

If not does the system even need a vented cap ? Could I just get an alloy tank made up and use that instead ?

I have a temp gauge in my tank (as you know) and after a hard drive and it sitting soaking heat for an hour I don't see the reservoir get anywhere near 40*C nevermind 100*C. Cant comment on pressure though.

I recall that your kit is running the stillen cooler, but I don't think that can make that much difference.

I don't think making it a closed system is a good thing. I wonder what the temp (and then pressure) could go up to if you have a pump failure.

The system is not closed, I found out the hard way (water go it) the is a open hole on top of the SC. The right brass allen bolt has a hole in the middle :/ IT's open 100 % of the time.

I got the opportunity to check Blobbish's car today , his cap is different , was much tighter than mine and the rubber washer looks thicker, also the edge of the top of the tank has a wider shoulder meaning greater surface area for the washer to seal

My car has an early kit around three years old and has done about 30,000 miles , his kit is new

It could be that the cap has been over tightened in the past and the thread is damaged.

I have ordered some nitrile sheet so will fabricate some new thicker washers and see if that helps

I would maybe change the whole tank to one that holds more coolant :)

Any suggestions of one? I may well get one made up out of alloy
