Yah I'm just teasing guys. Its another one of those homedepot mods.

Plastidip on tools is good stuff though, if it adheres correctly.

It just looks cheap to me. Like a rattle can job. I think OEM was much better.

I don't have any desire to dip my Z, because I love shiny paint, but I also really like plastidip. One of my friends dips cars, including his own several times and other special projects for friends.

The release of the new high gloss Top Coat in March of this year changed everything again. Dip now feels smooth to the touch when you use Top Coat. You can't wrap wheels in vinyl either. My wheels are dipped a custom shade of dark gray. I didnt want them permanently powdercoated. If I want to change the color in the future I can.

This is DipYourCar's new 458 dipped w a satin finish.

Yeah. If they can find a way to remove the rubbery texture, but still retain the flexibility and removable nature, it would be amazing. To be fair, though, that horse would look good in almost any color.

^ the new top coat is surprisingly smooth

there are videos of bottles etc, sliding off the finish

This.

If all cars had matte finish then the current shiny OEM paint would be all the rage with the exact same people who are going for a matte look now.

If you take a step back and try to compare shiny vs. matte in a vacuum, it becomes clear that there's a reason why shiny has been the status quo for so long. It just looks better. Matte simply looks different, not better, which is why it is a fad.

It may not be phasing out yet, but like all fads, it will. It isn't bashing to say this, either. Some people like to hop in and enjoy a fad while others don't. No need for people to get upset about it. It would be disingenuous for people with dissenting opinions to not say anything when someone asks for opinions. If no one posted that they don't like it then people who are on the fence might think everyone likes it, yet they'd be wrong and quite a few of their friends would think their car looks cheap after the fact and then they'd have buyer's remorse.

With that being said that's OUR opinion. (Well mine atleast) I think that Plasti dip for the cost is a great alternative however I just don't think it justifies being on a 30k car. The Z itself already looks gorgeous in ANY color so plasti dipping it takes away from the "Classiness" the clean and sleek look. (I hope that my opinion has not offended any of the Plasti Dip users, I still love yall wether you use that crap or not :tiphat:)

I thought about Plasti-dipping just to test a new color on my car. It's a cheap and easily reversible option for me to see if I like a color change. :ugh2:

Vinyl is about x1000 more difficult and takes x100 more time to do. :eekdance:

Um, I was agreeing with you. I hate it when people I agree with have crappy reading comprehension. Makes me feel like I'm on the wrong side of the issue :icon17:

Not sure if the OP has done any updates but gunmetal plastidip on the rims would go very nice with the orange and black.

Good Idea! I am going to change it up sometime this summer though.
