there is a gap because you didn't apply enough pressure on both sides, or because the diffuser is short?

Tony said his is short................ no matter how much pressure they applied, couldn't get it to cover the last 1/4 inch on either side.

It's as if the mold was a little too narrow or something. They need to fix this issue so the fit looks custom. Just my opinion, otherwise it looks great!

In my case it's not the mold. The diffuser appears to be the exact size it needs to be. The problem with mine was that the diffuser wasn't curved enough on both ends to fit without putting pressure on it to hold it in place. The mistake I made was not getting someone to hold the diffuser in place while I drilled the pilot holes. I was trying to hold it in place with one hand while I drilled with the other hand. Also the spring clamps I was using to hold the diffuser in place were not strong enough by themselves to hold the ends in place either.

I could have redrilled the pilot holes, but I didn't want to risk putting more holes in the bottom of the bumper. Plus the end gaps on mine are pretty small and near the bottom. I'm probably going to use a little clear silicone to fill them in later.

Mine was not too short. It just wasn't curved enough on the ends to fit without pressure on the ends.

This is why I suggested to use screws on reverse side of the bumper. It will hold and pull more. But not everyone wants screw holes on their bumper. If you think you will keep this for good then I would suggest use the screws.
BTW, the more I look at this rear. The more I think to make the CF rear license plate cover.

It's pretty disapointing that so many people are having fitment issues. Is there anyone here that has actually installed this without a tiny gap?

Rasengan 05-02-2010 10:47 PM

i just ordered mine and am planning on keeping it there for good so i will use the screws...i'll let you guys know how it goes in terms of fitment but it seems from zpirate's post, they are the exact size they need to be, you really just have to use the screws to get it to adhere correctly to the bumper

Today I took my CF Rear Diffuser from Evor-R to my panel shop and was shocked at the fitment issues I'm going to have.
Basically, the amount of force required to fit the piece to the left/right curvature of the car is ridiculous..
I will be bringing it back to the shop to attempt an install next week and I will post the details.
Fingers crossed...

Any updates on the fit of this diffuser? I love the look of it but I'm hesitant to get one because of the fitment issues. Dose anyone have any closeup pics of the gaps?

updates?

Gimme a few days. We've got a cruise tomorrow and I'll get someone with a pro camera to take some snaps.

The fitment is a lot better than I thought but it took a lot for screws to hold.

There's still a gap on the left and right edges and underneath the corners but I've disguised it the best I can with chrome stripping.

Pics up in a few days. My apologies as my phone camera sux.

if you use the 4 threaded holes in the back of the diffuser.... itll fit and align perfectly... rather than the screws alone... only problem is doing the layout for drilling the holes is kinda hard... i actually made tabs on my rear bumper so there was play room and i could center it...

I actually got mine professionally fitted by the panel shop that's looked after the last 5 of my cars.

I am unsure how flexible the non-cf diffuser is but I can tell you now that my cf is extremely difficult to bend..

Did they follow EVOR's detailed instructions on how to install? I'm assuming they removed the bumper from the car as well?

the non cf diffuser is difficult to bend as well.... in fact lol it doesnt bend well... u could actually crack it like the carbon.... using the self tap screws alone and double stick tape wont do the job.... the non cf version are hallow so u only have a thin layer of fiber glass to screw it on too... which isnt that good... the self taps wont have enough meat on them and could actually pull them selves off.... btw man... im not trying to offend you or sound like a know it all.. im just saying..... for other peoples reference who install them :tiphat:

:) Dont be silly Simota1. Your status as a good guy on this forum is legendary!

I wouldn't think you were offending me even if you were... :)

Also, no I didn't follow the instructions. The panel shop just did whatever was required to hold it.
