12K HID Bulbs

Hey guys! I've been wanting to change the bulb color in my Z for a while, but couldn't decide on a hue. After buying wheels from a company and having them coated illusion purple (picture below), I'm trying to find a dependable set of D2S 12K's. I really wanted to buy them from JW Motoring, but they only go as high as 10K (which is understandable in regards to demand).

Now, I know some of you guys are completely against anything over 8K as it reduces visibility and has a "rice factor", but I've always loved the visual color at night. In this part of Tennesse they aren't very strict on HID color. If anyone has bought 12K and has the brand name and site they purchased from, I'd greatly appreciate it. I don't want a cheap brand. I'm hoping you guys can suggest a reputable company. If I do in fact get 12K and it reduces visibility to an unsafe level, I'll just get 8K from JW when they are available again. I have to at least try 12K for my own amusement. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...84f865e70c.jpg

Do the 12ks come with a flashlight to hold out the window so you can actually see something?

No they come with these..

The tint of my HID bulb's aren't enough reason to tell me to go to Ebay and rice out my car lol. I do get your point, but I like having a tint. The OEM 4300 isn't very appealing to me.

Just like 6K dips in to the blue shade, I would like the violet color to do the same. But what I'm looking for may be out of reach. I don't want the rich blind you purple, just a hint like the 6K range.

From my understanding, the aftermarket HID kits are the ones that give you the "that's way too blue" look. It seems like the factory HID kits never go that far. I went to 8K bulbs in my old G35 and they weren't half as blue as the 8K aftermarket kit I bought for my previous car. I just want a hint of purple instead of blue. I'm not trying to blind others and not see where I'm going haha.

Just an idea, a blue and purple band tint can be obtained from a decent clear projector and light cut off. The band where the light cuts off will and could have blue and purple in it. So folks in front of you will see your lights occassionally flicker blue to purple etc.

In europe stock HID on most cars behave this way. Over here, not so much.

I never considered that. Good idea.

They look beautiful when done correctly. I believe you would need to change out the projector housing to get this, not just the clear lense. But well worth it.

Check it..

The picture in the paragraph about "CLEAR LENS AESTHETICS" is perfect. It has a purple line, buts still produces plenty of white light as shown on the wall for visibility. I was planning to have my lights retro fitted anyway, so this may be the perfect alternative. Thanks so much man.

That is exactly what I would like. I dont think anyone has developed or done anything beyong just replaceing their lenses to STI-R clear lenses.

I think to get the blue and purple band a more needs to be done.

I'm definitely going to get those lenses put in when my lights are retro fitted. There for a second I was like, "Why did I even start this thread." haha. But you've given me the best alternative possible. I can get a purple-ish look while keeping the OEM color for visibility and safety. I looked up ONEighty's price and it's only $150 for the clear lens replacement and projector modification. You sir are the man!
