Replacement gas cap tether
Long story short, an attendant at a NJ gas station broke off the bit on the gas cap tether that holds it to the car. I can't seem to find a replacement for it on courtesyparts.com. This irks me quite a bit. Any help on a replacement on that bit?

That part is considered to be a piece of the gas cap assembly. You have to replace the whole thing.

Thanks for the input, guys. I can't seem to justify the cost of the entire assembly for that little circle piece that I'm pointing to. I'm sure a hardware store of some kind may have it if I knew what it was called

Looks like they have a few varieties to choose from. I googled fuel cap lanyard and got this hit. Good luck finding just the lanyard/tether. |
Tether anchor? :icon14:

is that the tab you're just missing or did the line itself break where it anchors to the car?
if the latter, i'd just cut the thing off clean and use the cap without the tether. put a round e-tape or something to cover the hole where the anchor tab thingie was. |
It's the round tab that connects the tether to the car that's broken. I like the tether on the car.

Dude! Get one of those chains for wallets! ;)

usually they sell them where they sell screws and fasteners and stuff. |
Isn't it like under $40 for a new one?
|
tabs are much less though... not sure if he ever went to the autoparts store yet.

If it's just the pin that attaches the tether to the hole then just use a small zip tie and clip off the excess.
