My front is being prepped now and will have the car wrapped after it is ready, but I do have a question for those of you who have already done the conversion. Have any of you used the Zspeed splash shield after converting your front end? If so how did you go about it? I know they offer a conversion kit but it requires messing with the core support. Wanted to see if anyone else has come up with a way to do it.

Just finished the conversion. Use the Zspeed shield for the non-Nismo. Talk to Joe and he has a kit to use spacers for the shield. It works well and is cheap.

How much work had to be done to the core support for the spacers? That was the only part I was iffy about.

It took less than 5 min. Drill the hole out slightly. Insert fitting with tool that has threads. The screw holds into the aluminum bar now with spacers. Very easy.

Here are some pics. (not of the tray)Attachment 116601

I like the hex mesh that you use. Is that from customcargrills.com ?

Yes. Ordered through Amazon

Excellent stuff. Used zip ties to hold and Goop to glue the mesh to the inside.

Note that there is a 10 row, 20" wide second oil cooler (first is a 34 row from Z1) behind the lower opening.

Just out of curiosity, why'd you leave the stock plastic grill in place?

patabq 09-07-2016 02:25 PM

No reason to take it out and it provides structure to mount to. The whole fascia went from parts to paint without me touching it and I got $200 off retail.

I used the z speed undertray prior to them making a conversion kit. I have a 2012 Nismo. All I did was drill corresponding holes in the undertray to match the bumper, then install like oem. No issues thus far.

I almost did that, but the spacer works without shifting anything. It obviously works to just drill new holes for the push pins.

are you on air ride? or is that your Z static for height???

love the colour and everything, but hope you drive a little higher then that. I hate cars that drive with the fenders rubbing the rims (hellaflush IIRC)

IMO - that's too low :ugh2: parked sure, driving not for me. I am on coils and low but try to make it still drivable/functional...... sports car functional.

THAT is perfect. Good job dude. What tires are you running? I'm looking for something meatier for my stock nismos.
