My old Z had this same problem come up, nissan changed the rubber on the passenger side, but to no avail. Good luck bud

Can you cut a small hole in the passenger carpet and use that to seal the hole? It's not the best but compared to the wiring loom, 100x better. If it's anything like the driver's side, it will be high enough up to not be visible

I'm sure if you dump a ton of RTV silicone and get it all up in there REAL good, you may be able to seal it.

Yah, I mean can't you use bathtub caulk or something?

Yet another homedepot mod! :ugh2:

I keep getting told to not use anything permanent...

So now I wash my car once every 3-6 months because I'm fearful (my car smelled for months before I knew the problem), and I drive 80 miles each way to go back to the dealer, complain, plead that they replace the fuckíng thing but the guy ends up installing some 3M caulk tape...

I had the same issue with my Nismo when they installed the built in Radar detector and custom stereo in my car.

One of the retards at custom sounds forgot to.....

Have you had anything added to your car?

What did they do to fix your car?

I have seen this used on other cars with water leaks with great success. But the **** they use for repairing soles on running shoes. It comes in a jar much like rubber cement and also has a brush so you can really push it into the openings.

Anyone know of any good tape that can withstand all types of weather? Maybe if we tape the entire grommet with the wires far enough out, it can prevent the leak?

I was thinking about using electrical tape but not sure how it will hold up against Chicago weather.

That's just contact cement. I don't think that's thick enough to deal well

Another aftermarket mod (turbo) that undid an OEM component rendering the car less-than-functional. Glad I don't have that particular bug (mod bug). It certainly does seem to cause a lot of grief around here.

There were other options to get the wiring in. This was just the easiest and unfortunately not the best option. I don't think anyone knew that it would cause a leakage.

Fortunately I think it only leaks when I use a pressurized spray.

Shoe Goo man....shoe goo. It worked for my Vans when I was a kid, it will work for your grommet :)

Is it coming through that harness there? If so, that sucks. Where I put my radar detector wiring lol Guess I'm gonna have to goo it too...

Yup, that is it. I was also thinking of using RTV and see if that helps.

I made a hole in the grommet and had to use silicone to seal around. I accidentally broke the clip which holds the grommet down. Any suggestions? Can I add a bracket with a screw of some type which will hold the grommet down.

Navster 09-21-2014 08:39 PM

Fixed the water leak from grommet. Turns out the clip I broke which kept the grommet in place, left a hole in the plastic. Since the grommet still had one clip left I ended up using a bungee cord. I took the hook and placed it through the hole on the plastic in the grommet and pushed the other side through the fire wall. I then placed the grommet into place and pulled on the bungee cord on the inside of the car and hooked the other side to a plastic clip on the heater fan. Took car through car wash and no water leaking inside voila.

I fixed the leak recently.

I used RTV and created a gasket under the grommet. Worked like a charm. Now I have no more leaks.

Just for those that are wondering how to fix it.
