Alcantara is an actual trademark. I used to by rolls of it back in England from my local BMW dealer when I was having my dash and steering wheel wrapped.

I've recorded temperatures of +30-40F above ambient temp on a hot day. Stuck a digital thermometer in the center cup holder with the windows rolled up, 30% window tint, and a covercraft uvs100 sun shield. After parked all day at work came out and read 110F on an 80F day. Not sure how long it took to get up to that heat though. Great thing we have awesome AC units in the Z!
