getting the digital speedometer back?
 

is it possible to change the digital clock on the dash back to the digital speedometer like on the 350? if it is, is there anyone planning on doing it?

If someone would make this mod, I would buy!

I use my 9500ix as a speedometer most of the time, it reads my Speed 100%

ooo with the mirror mount i bet that's perfect. i'm tall so it'll probably be eye-level. :tup:

would be cool to have the digital speedo :) ... let me think of how it might be possible to re-program that clock to show speed...

If u really wanted that speedometer, couldn't you just take one from the 350Z and try to wire it up?

It must be a standard OBD II output. Scangauges can read that value off the OBD port..

Why would you want a speedometer on the passenger side of the vehicle? Looks like a good place for an oil pressure gauge, though.

You mean like in the triple cluster of gauges on the center of the dashboard (as in my 04.5 Touring Coupe's)? The 370's is different? Hmmm...Nissan actually did away with the three center gauges on the 370?? Weird. To me, they look cool!

My radar is a great speedo, but what I really wanna do is whenever I get that stillen S/C, replace the voltage meter with a boost gauge (psi).

No, they're still there. I think he just wants to change the clock to a speedometer.

Yeah, the clock was a horrible idea to put in the pods. :shakes head:
It should have been: oil temp, oil pressure, water temp
I would love to see someone do a oil pressure swap and see how it looks or how easy it is.

That sucks, Vipor, I have seen that one, just waiting for someone with more experience to do an install of it. Might be as easy as popping out the clock and running a wire, or it might require a lot of extra work to take out the clock.

Retrofitting that oil pressure guage would be nice.

for real, anything else would have been better than a clock. that's what the radio, or phone, or a watch is for

I have the speedo in the pods in my 350, and really miss it in my 370. For those of us who live around speed cameras, a quick glance to see EXACTLY what my speed is would be very nice to have again.

Personally I would add a water temp and an oil pressure gauge where the volt and clock gauges are and add this for the digital speed meter...

a better water temp guage would be nice, but at least we have something more than a dummy light already.

Does anyone have access to an installation manual for this? If it interfaces with your OBDII or CAN bus that'd be awesome. I know it's got a remote sending unit, but I hope it's not mechanical.

I think a digital speedometer should have simply been added as an option in the gauge cluster to the left of the rpm gauge. I guess that would have been too easy....

You'd think the stock computer would be able to do that on the information display...

i'd love it if someone found a way to do this. i have an 07 SI and the speedometer on that is digital and i like it much better then the traditional way

My Z31 has Digital Dash So it tells you exactly how fast your going and breaks down your RPMs',gas,oil temp, and battery life. I do like the dash on the Z34.To me it looks better than the Z33's dash.

Has anyone mentioned the PLX DM-200 that plugs right into your OBD-II port and gives you all the info that the ECU sees? Retail is $399 and it has a remote control! I am going to run that in place of my digital clock for my turbo build :D

Personally, I'd have loved to see Nissan combine the digital gas gauge and other functions with the clock on the center cluster.... perhaps move the analog oil temp to the driver's cluster so all three driver's cluster gauges are analog. Adding the digital speedo to the gas gauge as an option shouldn't be that tough.
