1) I do

2) Yes, the contrast of them and the way the pieces look in direct sunlight is stare-worthy

3) standard weave (aerojacket, evo, shine ect seem to have the same patterns)

hmm, interesting..

how would i even know how many layers of CF are on something? or how many layers are needed for certain pieces?

1 layer "might" work for like our antenna piece or dash kit, but i doubt 1 layer is sufficient enough for lets say a front bumper or something of that proportion

Amj2020 04-29-2014 10:18 PM

Most CF parts you look at are FRP covered in one sheet of CF to add the look of CF to the part. So keep in mind most times you dont get dry carbon real vacuum pressed parts. Unless of course you are paying premium prices.

I'm looking at this hood right now. Any input, guys?

i have a couple

they come in different ways. for instance, cf element has a few layers of carbon over original pieces. like on these interior parts. tony does beautiful work and is always great with customer service

http://www.the370z.com/members/edub3...lo-real-cf.jpg

then there is stuff like this NRG engine cover i got which is just a single layer of carbon by itself. not molded over anything. extremely light, which wasnt really a concern for me. still comes out looking great

http://www.the370z.com/members/edub3...1308-552-1.jpg

both were worth the price for the major aesthetic improvement.

there are variations, as u can get dry carbon, carbon kevlar, colored carbon. i have only heard of fitment/quality issues on PW JDM's engine covers. but that was a long time ago, and may have been remedied since then

I think I have around 20 different CF parts. They are beautiful and I would never go back, lol.

Companies are Aerojacket, Seibon, Evo-R, and Zcfcovers. Each utilizes the same standard CF weave.

Seibon is amazing quality. They do not have any fiberglass in their products. Its 100% carbon fiber:tup:

TheGreatOne 04-30-2014 04:50 PM

I have a CF addiction....can't get enough...within moderation lol.

Zeetah 04-30-2014 04:58 PM

cool, im going to try to search up dry cf vs wet cf, hope i can find a short answer

Malm 04-30-2014 05:10 PM

dry carbon fiber is super expensive, super light..
wet carbon fiber is the standard stuff you find which affordable.

I could be wrong..but im sure that's the most simple answer I found out when I googled the difference.

Waiz 04-30-2014 05:43 PM

I only have 3 CF parts on my car:

-Brake/Radiator Covers in engine bay
-Canards on front bumper
-NISMO b-pillar covers

I am actually not a big fan of CF, can tend to look really tacky when overdone

Yes sir!!!! I as well:tup: the best thing with this 40th edition is that carbon fiber matches the paint so much that u fall head over heels twos CF!!!!!! have many CF parts and looking for more everyday :happydance:
If you like carbon fiber, the 40th anniversary edition is the best thing Nissan has ever brought to the table:bowrofl:

Zeetah 04-30-2014 07:47 PM

i wonder if you can tell the difference between dry and wet cf in sheet form and after the final product

Riptide67 04-30-2014 09:26 PM

I believe the look is slightly different between dry and wet.

Zeetah 05-01-2014 04:41 PM

ya i found "some" info, but barely, theres a youtube video, forgot what, i think i typed in dry carbon fiber, and apparently they use it for formula 1 race cars and jets... guess i wont be need it, and of course supercars, zonda pagani, koeseigg or how ever you spell it, mclarens, those those types have the dry carbon.

cinellipro 05-04-2014 08:32 AM

I have one carbon fiber piece in my interior and it is the shift ring, and once installed that hooked me on the importance of strategically placed CF in the interior. Definitely an improvement. I'm a little selfish when it comes to where to put the CF, as I'm only interested in places where I the driver will see it and as a cover for the cheaply visible silver plastic. It's a sports car, sports car, and silver plastic does not belong on the dash or console!
Right now many of us are waiting for CarbonSignal to release the instrument bezel covers that are left and right of the tach. As you know they are plastic aluminum and look out of place, but they are located in the most visible part of the interior, the driver's view. For me once, those are in place then the next step will be to campaign for a CF cover on each of the three gauge rings. Again covered in a aluminum plastic. After that, I'm done.

lol

why not make your own? cf stuff

ETnismo 05-04-2014 06:14 PM

does anyone make cf center console. just the part that flips open? mine has some wear and im looking to replace

cinellipro 05-04-2014 06:48 PM

EVO-R sells the center console. However, they sell it as a two-piece unit. They may just sell you the flip door only.

karotZ 05-04-2014 09:03 PM

For interior, buy it from carbon signal.

For the CF question, get the best weave which is twill weave, looks waaaay better.

To answer wet and carbon, carbon has the dull/unfinished looked and is meant for weight saving performance purposes while wet has the glossy look which does weigh savings but not as light as dry carbon. Wet carbon is generally purchased for aesthetic purposes. One trick some enthusiasts do is they wet sand the wet carbon and re-clear it with satin clear coat to kind of get the dry carbon look.

ETnismo 05-18-2014 11:35 AM

I looked on both sites but didnt see it. im not looking for the cubby door but the flip up door between the seats
