Z1 Hood Struts Bulge

How to fix hood bulge on drivers side of hood. Only up 1/16 inch. I have seen posting that it is a easy fix but know one tells you how to do it. Thanks for the help.............

I can take a picture of what I trimmed later today if you really need it.

Larry, I fixed mine by heating the plastic and reshaping it.

I got a set of the Garageline struts. I'm going to do a DIY and review this weekend. Hoping not to have this problem with these. I can tell you they look incredibly well made and are gorgeous!

There are a few adjustments that we do if needed in house. The first and easiest fix is to make sure that the ball stud on the fender well is not sandwiching the plastic battery cover between the washer and the fender itself. It it is, you can adjust the cover slightly to allow the washer to seat against the fender. Doing this will reclaim about 1~2 mm of height. You can also try adjusting the bracket on the hood to make sure that it is not binding when fully closed.

Alternatives like bending the plastic cover are a last resort. We have never had to do that in house when installing these for customers.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions

The first pic is from the top. You can see the cut out next to the strut (it's actually below the strut).

The second pic shows the cut out better. I didn't have a dremel at the time, so I just used a razor blade.

Please excuse the condition of my engine bay. It hasn't been detailed in a while :(

Here is another pic that grandpawmoses posted in his thread that I linked earlier

I tried these suggestions before I modified the plastic cover. Neither worked. :ugh2:

Me as well.

I had slight bulge on the passenger side with my kfields kit, I ended up adding 2 washers to space the hood latch lower on that side, problem solved.
