Painted door handles

Thinking about having my door handles painted to match my car. I saw another Nismo on here that had it done and it looked good to me.

Just wondering if anyone else has done this and how much it cost.

Thanks for the input :tiphat:

I paid $250 for mine. Matching factory paint + install.

I know they're not painted nor color matched but I plastidipped mine with anthracite & gloss finish for under $15. Just FYI.

I removed mine and had a local painter spray them for $40 for the pair

I am looking to offer a group buy on painted door handles, look at my build thread for how we do it. cost would be right around the $200 range and would need to do colors in at least groups of 4 or more.

I am in the process of buying a core set and will be able to paint, send, wait for return core. obviously there will be a cost/credit involved to do it that way. (cost to purchase new core if not returned in reasonable time frame)

If the interest is there, I will do it.

we completely disassemble and rebuild door handles.

fwiw i was quoted 165 from a local body shop, but they will not take the handles apart and rebuild (properly)

anyhow, way worth it, looks awesome on the car

jlo370z 03-07-2014 03:38 PM

oh yes, if your wondering would we paint manifold covers like I had mine done

Why would the handles need to be rebuilt?

see my build thread. the handle part of the door handle kit if you will, is riveted together. it does not unscrew. so if you want to paint properly behind the handle, you have to take it apart, and re assemble it. we tapped where the rivet was and insert new screw with locktite, so its as strong as it would be from the factory

cooltoy 03-07-2014 03:53 PM

Got ya. Thanks, I'll look.

big daddy 03-07-2014 03:59 PM

I LOVE it. Can't wait to get mine done

The picture I wanted to find several months ago when I was curious what black would look like on my gunmetal Z. :D

Malm 03-07-2014 05:56 PM

I did mine black with plasti-dip. Was very easy.. tho obviously not as good as getting them painted..but for a temp thing its perfect

OMGWTFBBQ 03-08-2014 09:58 AM

Yeah. Mine wasn't taken apart when painted so you can see the silver underneath when you open the door handle. Besides that, it looks good. I had mine painted just a normal gloss black.

Is that paint code KAD that you used for your door handles? Where did you buy it from? I'm looking to do the same to my door handles.

Yes, I painted the door handles Gun Metallic (code KAD) to match the rest of the car. My rims are painted the 40th anniversary color of KAV. It has a slightly purple hue that really compliments the Gun Metallic and is just a little different from what others have.

I love them and had a couple people already comment on them.

I picked up my pearl whites yesterday, going on this weekend

jbakes727 03-20-2014 05:23 PM

If I were you I would just vinyl wrap them. Paid a guy $20 at my work. I used 3m 1080 gloss black wrap. It's easily reversible, leaves no residue, doesn't scratch or chip, and it's extremely durable.

Not a 370z but you get the point.

Using vinyl is actually a pretty good idea! And looks great! Where did you buy the material? EBay?

equalme 04-04-2014 01:43 PM

Looking good! Hit me up if you're looking to get the handles painted. :tiphat:

Any chance you’re still painting handles?
