I was in the shop yesterday to have a few things checked because yesterday was the last day of my warranty. The dealership was a little anal about giving me service under warranty but after some fighting all was good. This morning lo and behold my "no seat belt" chime/picture started beeping while I was driving. The seatbelt was connected obviously. I unhooked it and reclipped and the noise stopped only to start again a minute later. Damn. Anyone know of a fixor heard of this? The dealership "we've never had a problem like that" pfff.

I'd first check the connector under the seat and make sure the contacts are clean and the connector plugged in properly. If that didn't fix the problem, I'd disassemble and clean the latch assembly, paying particular attention to the switch. Next, I'd inspect/test the wiring from the latch to the BCM. The FSM (link in my sig) will be very helpful for all the above. If none of that fixed the problem, I'd head for the dealer.

Hey, thanks. Where is the connector plugged into? Is there anyway to dissamble the latch by itself or must I dissamble it with the metal arm? Cant find a link in your sig.

Download 370Z Factory Service Manual (FSM)

I've never had to mess with the sealbelts, so I don't know. If you have problems finding what you need in the FSM, let us know and someone will try to point you in the right direction.

Be very careful when unplugging and reconnecting electrical connectors. It is a good idea to disconnect the battery when doing electrical work on modern cars. The proper procedures will be in the FSM.

A digital multi-meter (or other high-impedance VOM) will be invaluable for troubleshooting.

The manual is awesome. Makes me feel that I have some control over my car and not just the mechanics. Please show me a pic of what a "pawl" is. In taking apart the plastic inner cushion of the seat there are a few :confused:
