Help!! Nismo Wing Removal.

I am having an incredibly difficult time removing my oem Nismo wing. Wtf is up? Removed said four bolts. I can't find anything else holding it in. Doesn't want to come off the car.

Is it just the glue holding it in place?

Holy big pics Batman! I would think it is similar to the sport spoiler in that there is double sided tape and clips still holding it on after removing the necessary bolts. Perhaps someone who has removed there nismo wing will chime in shortly.

Five white locking tabs?

Tried using a heat gun. That won't be successful because the wing is attached to the outside panel of the hatch. There is a gap between the two panels on the inside to the outside. So heating won't do any good. Off today and tomorrow. If I can't get it off...I will have to wait another week to get the car to the body shop.

The OEM Sport Package wing has 11 mounting points. I'm assuming the Nismo wing will be the same...

4 Bolts
7 Pop Rivets
3M Tape

The shop I had my aftermarket wing installed at was surprised to find so many mounting points... Which made the labor rate go way up. :crying:

The emblems were a pita to remove with that small amount of double sided tape... In sure they put way too much on. Did you take the top bar off and then you will probably need to heat gun and use fishing wire to break the seal and then I would recommend heating up again and pushing hard on the base and you should start to hear the seal breaking from the double sided tape.

Damn near got a hernia (spelling?). Definitely pulled a muscle in my arm. This bad boy was tight. I used a heat gun and pried with a nylon panel popper tool. Broke the seal by wedging a body filler spreader in the tiny crack and cutting the adhesive. There was a crap ton of adhesive under that thing. Got it all off. Took a rubber eraser wheel to the tape once the wing was off. Then used goo gone to clean excess residue off. Thanks.

I have failed...Taking this thing to the body shop. None of the holes line up at all.

cooltoy 12-31-2013 08:16 PM

Pretty sure you have to drill a few.

I quote.

Quote:

I had to seal some of the holes from the Nismo wing then drill a couple of new wholes to install the amuse wing and I also put double sided tape and glued it down to prevent water from getting in.

I also had to work with some wiring to make the amuse brake light work but nothing serious.

The amuse wing did cover all of the wholes that the Nismo wing left but it is still a good idea to seal the wholes with some electrical tape or something to prevent water from getting in just in case.
