Oppurtunity for upgrade

Welllll this sucks :(
I was on my way home from work this evening and under REALLY crappy circumstance I hit a re-tread (semi tire) at 70mph. Here is the pic

You can see it hit the lower drivers side area. While this does piss me off. I see it as an opportunity to re-paint/upgrade/do-over lol
I've searched for a few lips and most don't seem to cover the damage are so, repaint looks to be the best option right now. I want to keep my expense under $500. Looking for input on this one. My Z as it stood (before :shakes head:)

A fang cover would cover the center nicely, but outside of that, unfortunately not.

I'll get quotes for repaint over the next few days.
I kinda like the idea of repainting the bumper, gloss black center/fangs and OEM chin spoiler. Maybe aftermerket lip instead.

I've though about that although Im not sure if it will cover all the damage :/

Well if you are going to repaint it, it would be a good time to de-badge the front if you were ever thinking about doing that.

I like his^ setup. I'll pass on the lip though. Probably have the fangs painted gloss instead of matte. No front tags in TN either :D
Waiting on EVO-R to make more CF mustache covers now.
I think that'll look clean and aggressive. If I didn't have paint cracks I'd find a way to live with it (damage).

^-- Is that the Stillen lip? Looks nice and not over done.

I would say to plastidip fangs and get a lip.

Yeah I like the no hamburger look. If I ever need to respray my front end, I'll be ditching them for sure, until then I can live with it ;) I'm not so keen on the carbon fiber mustache though as it will be a high impact area & I think it would not take too long to start looking lousy. :twocents: YMMV

Fantastic Z 12-13-2013 11:48 PM

:twocents: noted :tiphat:
The few rough quotes I've gotten will be around the $500 range to repaint. I have not attempted self repair. There are a few spider cracks in the paint. If I decide to live with by painting the fangs myself and tossing the splitter on. I will save about $2-300.

What would you guys do?

The spider cracks doesn't look too noticeable. But if you do end up respraying the bumper, make sure to invest in a clear bra then.

With evo-r this section might still be visible but a lot of the other damage would be hidden

Joepro 12-14-2013 09:03 PM

Do it once, it will cost more, but get a new bumper and just have them not paint the fang section.

Fantastic Z 12-15-2013 04:36 PM

I think you all will appreciate this update. I figured if I was going to repaint the bumper anyways that it wouldn't hurt to use my detail skills and attempt to repair the bumper myself. (not my first time)
Well...here are the results.
