Side windows scraping against roof

I know the windows are supposed to index down when you open the door to the car and then back up when you shut the door. It seems the index is actioned when the door is opened far enough for the interior light switch to depress. I'm sure many people who don't know about this just open the door right up, the window doesn't drop fast enough and the top of the window scrapes against the roof of the car. I've noticed that the paint in this area on my car is almost completely worn away. Seems to me the window should index when you pull the handle open, not when the interior light switch is activated.

I guess I'm going to ask the dealer about painting the area back over now that I have the car and am patient with the doors but it's still something I have to tell every person that opens the passenger side door.

Is there a way to get the window to index faster?

I havent had any issues with mine. Take it to your dealer and see if they cant do something about that because its definitely not normal.

Does your window index when you pull on the handle or after the door cracks open?

I just checked again and on the passenger side you have the pull the door, while the window is bending b/c it's held in place by the roof before it indexes down. I'm going to check with the dealer, at this point they owe me a paint job on the drivers side. It must've happened before I got the car b/c I always wait for it to index.

You must get in and out of your car at hypersonic speeds my friend. As soon as I pull the handle and pop the door open, the window is down. It goes down a good 5-10 seconds before I am sitting in my in my seat, ready to close the door.

Mine seem to be fine, right when I pull the handle and start to pull the door it's down. It's only going down maybe 1/2", haven't noticed any rubbing issue.

IDK? Maybe I'm anticipating the window dropping too much...trying to be gingerly or something. I just went out and opened the door like I would a normal car and I guess it seems to drop quickly enough. Still miffed about the paint. Its kinda hidden but a new car should be completely new and free of defect. I'll say something to the dealership and see where I get. There was one time a week or so ago where when I opened the door, the window didn't drop. Maybe that's when the paint departed...

I don't do much at hypersonic speed, but the imagery is funny.
