370z hatch plastic trim removal

I have searched all over google and this website. I know how to and have already removed the plastic trim piece towards the front of the hatch to get to the lock mechanism and spoiler install.

Question is how do you remove the side trim pieces under the hatch? I tried pulling really hard on one side and it wont budge! I cant see how its holding on. I figured it was held up the same way as the plastic trim under the spoiler. Is there a trick to this?

im not sure where you mean by 'under the hatch'?

have you checked the service manual(free download)?

Are you speaking of the trim around the hatch glass?

You have to remove the lower piece or the piece closest #3 to you by remove the two finisher clips #4? with a 10mm and pull off the trim from the edge unclipping the six clips and pushing forward to release it from the guides near the glass.

The side pieces #2 just pop off and then you can remove the center piece #1 closes to the front of the car.

Yes I am referring to the side pieces #2. When you say just pop off. Do you have to pull on them in a certain direction? I was pulling realling hard and it would not come off. I was scared to break it. So I was wondering if their was a technique to it. It seems like u just have to pull really hard and hope nothing breaks? Lol

Start on number 3 in the middle and just pull down

I've found that with the plastics you pretty much have to pull hard enough that you're 100% sure you're going to break them. And that's when they come off.

or you look at the diagram where it says the clips are and pull there. or use a panel popper in that same area.

you can try undoing the taps with this tool... and do it on a warmer day. plastic trim does break when yanked at in the cold.

Never mind guys, I was trying to take that plastic trim off so I can get better access to the top left hand corner of the hatch to get out a screw that somehow got loose in there and was rolling around for a week.

Turns out if you pull the rubber grommet out at the top corner of the hatch you can reach in their with one or two fingers and pull stuff out.

So basically I don't have to worry about taking that trim piece off anymore. PHEW!

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE INFO!
