Footwell lighting

So I have searched around and haven't seen footwell lighting done just by itself, just with kickplates. Anyone have a picture or knowledge of wire color that I can tap into on the BCM so the footwell lights only come on with the fob or door opening? My last resort would be to tap into the wires in the driver side A pillar, just need to determine which one in the dome light. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi MadChemist,
I would advise getting the Factory Service Manual from the forum, then tracing down the wires associated with the door/fob lights and tapping into them in an easy to get to place.

Wouldn't it be the same wiring point as the kick plates.

It should be the same wiring point as the kick plates but I haven't been able to find a directions that show how the T-connector connects to the BCM.

I tapped mine right into the radio illumination wire, works great

Try this thread, maybe something in there will help you:

If you're handy with a voltmeter you should be able to prove out which wire to tap on to, and a ground of course.

Finally got this done. It took about three hours between the exploration and soldering. Pretty happy with how it turned out. When the doors open, the white footwell lights turn on. I also have them tapped so if I need them on, I just have to turn on the passenger map light. The red footwell lights turn on with the parking lights or headlights turn on. They are on a dimmer so I can turn them down if they are too bright while driving. I took pictures throughout the process and will post a DIY tomorrow.

Let me know what you think.

That's sweet how you incorporated both white and red lights. Looking forward to the DIY!
