VCD off without pressing the button ?

Hello guys,

Ive been driving a Z34 for the past year before I counter this problem. After a WOT run (especially from the 1st gear) while the VCD is on, when the wheels are slipping and the light show up on the dash, my VCD was automatically off. This annoyed me as I need to pull over and turn off the engine and start it again to eliminate the VCD off light from the dash, and when I need my VCD most is when I made fast cornering and WOT runs.

I tried a search button but found nothing, anyone having this problem as well? Any solutions? Is it electrical problem? I have talk to many of the Z members in Thailand and no one have the same issue as mine. It sucks when VCD is off by itself when I need it most.

Has the brake light flashed on? This problem is commonly associated with low brake fluid. Check level, and if need be, top off to just at the bottom of the full line.

Thanks for a fast reply Jordo, will check my fluid asap! It strange how low brake fluid make the VCD off light show up tho.

This happened to me.
The car resets VDC when restarted and can happen again in a hard turn.

Solution: You need a little more brake fluid.
http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...tself-off.html :

I had a wierd thing happen yesterday. The road opened up and I made a quick left then right and I noticed a strange feel on the left and the right felt like wheel spin. I looked down and the traction control light was illuminated solid and VDC off was also lighted up. I hit the button a few times but had no control of the light. I tested the car on a turn and sure enough, the wheels spun and I drifted a bit. The VDC turned itself off, and both lights stayed on until I got in the garage. I turned off the car waited ten seconds and restarted the car. No lights. I have yet to test if the VDC is working again, but I assume it will.

Anybody else have this happen?

This is an example of the search button being difficult. I knew the title of my thread and still spent time finding it with the search feature.

"VDC turned itself off" hit search and the first page never brings up my post.

I use Google to search this site. Just put "site:the370Z.com " at the beginning of your search string. May work with other search engines.

Try this:
https://www.google.com/#q=site%3Athe...+itself+off%22

Sorry I have to dig this one from it's grave, but today I top up with brake fluid, the problem goes away! Thanks guys.
The search function is not really helpful here, I tried like 5 different keywords and it bring me nothing.

yah, my Z came out of the factory with slightly low brake fluid. i remember adding some the first week or so of ownership. i recommending just taking a quick look.

i used valvoline dot3/4 brake fluid that can be had just about anywhere. no issues.

I use Google to search this site. Prefix your search term(s) with "site:the370z.com " to limit Google to just this site. Eg,
Code:

site:the370z.com VDC off
That "trick" may work with other search engines.

Using this site's advanced search, I can sometimes find what I want but I still haven't figured out how to get the results to display in a meaningful way. Probably just me. At any rate, Google works great for me.
