Clear car bra - DIY

Has anyone installed a clear car bra on their Z?

I want to have one installed, but the $650 is a little more than I want to pay. If you did it yourself, what product, what results and what advice can you offer?

Also, where is a good source for a DIY kit?

Funny thing is I just saw this product shown on motor week, And it's aimed for the home diy'r

I can't confirm how good it is, But it seems to be a pretty good idea.

Looks pretty good. I am going to have to look into that. I could really use it

It sucks, you don't want to buy it and/or waste your time

Thanks for feedback :tiphat:

Very interesting.

from the read, the paint spray is crap as it is nearly impossible to lay it flat and smooth.
maybe good for temporary use, like for road trips.

i install clearbras on my car. takes practice and patience. :D small pieces are easy, the larger, the harder it gets.

I should receive the 3M Venture shield ultra for my Nismo front bumper this week and will report how my install goes. I installed a 3M kit on my motorcycle 5 yrs ago and it still looks great after 37k miles.

I installed a 3m venture shield myself. Its hard as **** dude, pay the 650. trust me. it looked good, but im a perfectionist so every little tiny itty bitty flaw in it drove me crazy so after a few weeks I tore it back off the car. BAHHHHHHHHHHHH all that aggravating work for nothing. it took me nearly 5.5 hours. NOT including prep. motorcycle=TINY *** SURFACE AREA. the fenders, hood and mirrors are easy as pie and will lull you into a false sense of security...... BAM then the front bumper strikes. pre cuts fit EXACTLY, but it takes a lot of stretching because of those 2 distinct curves on the front that run to the fender lines. good luck is all i can say........also, use *** tons of both the soap water "baby" and the alcohol mix and for gods sake whatever you do dont let it touch ANYTHING. 1 little spec of dust creates a bubble you can see from 3 ft away.

I think its a good product. I basically wrapped mu 10 in it so keep the rock chips to a minimum.

:rofl2: hahaha. it's not THAT bad. :D

and the small water bubbles and minor imperfections will dry out through the clearbra in about a month's time (or sooner if placed in the sun). :)

Had mine custom installed, no pre cut BS. Brought the car to a guy and his sons (gotta support local business) and they wrap and cut to the cars spec. Hood is wrapped to the under side, unlike pre cut stuff which leaves a small gap. Bumper and fender are cut to the edge with minimal gap.

AFAIK, pre cut stuff leaves a fairly large gap.

$500 total / 3M clear bra

I've been tempted to try it myself but if it fails, it seems like wasting money that could have been spent towards the "professional" work.

For any DIY learning source, I start from YouTube unless it's 370z related :)
