Help: Removing center console

Can anybody post specifically how to remove the center console?

I need to adjust the tightness of my handbrake because as it stands now I can pretty much drive with it fully up unhindered.

Thanks

Stick your hand in the cupholder and pull straight up... You should have plenty of room with that off to get to the nut that tensions the cable.

The "safe" way to pull up the center console (the one with compartment box):
- Pop off the gear lever trim (7AT, remove silver trim piece first; 6MT, unhook and pull up)
- There are a couple of screws holding down the center console.
- Lower driver and passenger seats. Towards the back of the console (behind the seats) are a couple of screws (one on each side). Remove those.
- Now you can simply lift it up.
