Sun Visor Warning Label Removed
15min, and a hair dryer, easier than i thought it was going to be.
I can deal with the little bit of ring left over vs staring at that terrible label. http://www.the370z.com/members/frost...8-cam00099.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/frost...9-cam00100.jpg |
Dude. That is kind of awesome.

Very nice! That is unless you ever forget how to place children disturbingly close to the air bag and need instructions.:p

now maybe you can spray paint that one side with matte black fabric paint to finish it off. :D

Isn't that the the tag on a mattress that says "Do not remove under penalty of the law"?
|
Oh snap son! you just voided your air bags warranty! :rofl2:

I did this in another car in the past, did you try acetone or isopropyl alcohol to remove the ring?

Thanks for posting this up,
Been bugging me since the day I got it. Time for a try this weekend! |
Me too, will get before and after pics. Let me know about the ring residue.

Happy just the way it is. |
35 minutes with a 1875 watt hair dryer at point blank in one corner and it's not even thinking of budging. What am I doing wrong?

Speaking for just my set, only the edges are actually sealed to the fabric. After going around it in circles to warm it up for a few minutes with a hair dryer, I did find cutting a slice in the 'puffed' up section (anything but the edges), so i could get a grab on some of it for leverage, and pry it up, working the edges very slowly. If you pull to fast, you will just break the material off, leaving no leverage to pull the rest of it up. When its pulling off, it almost feels like its 'stitched' to the fabric. Sorry, but this thread was not suppose to turn into a DIY, and I'm not the best at giving instructions. :icon14: |
Gents:
I count myself among those who find those yellow warning labels tacky and distracting. So today I removed the label from one visor, using the hair dryer method discussed above. I regret to report that the result was unsatisfactory. I have a 2017 roadster, and I think the label adhesion has changed since earlier models. The entire label is glued on (not just the edges), and it's a bear to remove, pulling off tiny scrap after tiny scrap. It took an hour do to this, and then I was left with a rectangle of sticky residue. It would not clean off with rubbing alcohol, and goof-off started to melt the plastic. What's worse, all that time with the hair dryer slightly stretched parts of the plastic, so the whole thing looks pretty beat up. I just finished ordering a replacement visor from ebay (used) for $60. My advice to you is not to try removing the label. If you find it really distracting, cover it up with something. Cheers! |
