Spray Paint Yourself (Aerosol)

I have some scratches on my bumper pretty bad and big. I want to fix them myself because they are not that bad to take to shop. anyone have any advice on what the beat spray can to use if I'm doing myself?

not sure if they are good or not...I found this site here...
Auto Touch Up Paint, Automotive Touchup Paint, Car & Truck Touchup Paint: Ford, Honda, Toyota & More - Express Paint

here are 2 more sites....

those are both shops i recommended a while back.

the paints i bought from either of them were a good match.
how well the touchup turns out is based on the user's techniques :D

if you're painting a lip or something small, i could get it to look like factory finish even with the rattle cans.

but if you're doing a spot fix, say a section of a bumper, it's going to be hard to do to make it flow with the rest of the panel especially if you have a metallic color. issue is, the particles do not line up and even if the colors are matched well, the metalic particle angles will change the shade of the color.

doing a spot fix on the back bumper. My car is red. Think I sould give it a try?

kenchan 10-07-2013 09:53 AM

i think it's worth a try. i mean, if it doesnt work out you can always have it fixed professionally. :)

or put a sticker or something over the scratch if it's not too big... (like my car :crying:)

make sure you paint in a garage that is at least 70F and dry. otherwise the paint can turnout cloudy looking.

yes, learned that from experience like 20yrs ago. :icon17: hahaha.

yah, i would remove any loose plastic on that scratch, and then spot bond. sand it down smooth so that the surface is even and flat. the paint will show all imperfection.

you might be able to polish out the white pointy mark on the corner pict.

since it's low to the ground, i think it can turn out clean. our biggest concern will be the even transition of clearcoat. that is tough to do.

I read you can polish and buff the clear coat out for an even and clean transition finish.

Not to make your decision harder but just to add another option for people

Touch Up Paint and Accessories | AutomotiveTouchup

I found their color matching excellent (used an spra can to do my headlights) and they had good customer service and an easy to use website. Aerosol spray, paint pens, 2oz bottles, 1/2 bottles and spray guns and all kind of accessories.
