Had some time over the weekend and decided to take apart the headlight and put in some halos. Tell me what you think

Take some more pics..... Did you paint them while you were at it?

Nice! For anyone else that looks into doing this on their own, I find this to be one of the most useful threads on the net for our cars.

No sir. IMHO I like the look of the regular headlight with it cause when I get my lip I think it will be too much black in the front. Thats just my two cents.

Thanks  I must say your Z is a beauty. Do you have anything done to the light besides the paint?

No, I thought about doing some lights or something... I color matched the red to the Z on the head lights.. And Thanks:tiphat:

Those look really nice. On the amber running lights did you change them out to LED or are those stock bulbs? They look brighter than what I've seen on mine with the stock bulbs.

Thanks :D Those are actually stock, I noticed the same thing. I guess when its darker and you put attention to the halo, everything else stands out too.

Definitely love the halos on the headlights. Always looks great. Same thing with painting the housings. I feel that headlight mods really changes the look of the car. Big difference with them.

Thanks :icon17: They were a pain in the bum to do... especially the first one.. but in the end everything turned out great and the look of the car is more aggressive in the front. I have been getting a lot of compliments already even though I had them done today. :happydance:

Nice job! I didnt do the landing strip cause I like the simple but aggressive look of only having the halo. It makes it stand out a bit more but otherwise I very much like your work. :tiphat:

I would say if you want aggressive I would paint the housings. I painted my housings black, the projector and projector shrouds gun metal to match the car and then did dual halos. It's amazing how mean that looks over my original chrome and silver. Looks like a completely different, aggressive looking front. :)

I didn't do any extra lighting but adding some paint sure did make a worlds difference looking from the front.

I agree. I wanted to get away from stock. Adding the paint to the housing does make a world of difference. I feel it looked better than stock once I had it painted on my car. Because of painting the housings I ended up making all the emblems black to pretty much get rid of the silver on the car. Here's a little before and after for comparative purposes.

I don't like black or color matched door handles and so I kept the headlights and handles factory to keep some silver on the car especially after dipping my wheels and emblems black.

I did neither for my door handles. Ended up using anthracite gray on the handles which was a bit darker than the gun metal paint. I originally tried black door handles but for my color car looked very odd. I agree. Didn't like the black either. Emblems are fine as black on mine but door handles seemed strange. I felt once I did one as far as removing the silver I had to keep it going haha :)

That's a nice nismo you got there! Those lights look good with the black emblem. I had the same route after painting the lights I needed to black out the emblems for it to flow.

At first I wanted to black out my door handles but now I have to agree with you I think ill keep them stock and when I get wheels ill have black and a little bit of silver in them instead of all black.

Thanks man! I love your blue. When I had a 350Z I had the Daytona blue which I really liked. You're completely right with the emblems. When I had plasti dipped the emblems black but still had my chrome/silver lights there were a few people who saw it who told me they didn't really like it and the silver looked better however once I had my headlights customized with the black housings then it pulled it all together. It definitely flows better with doing all silver or all black, at least on my car, but doing some of both looked a little off especially the black door handles which didn't seem to mesh really at all.

DatsunFTW 10-06-2013 07:07 PM

I don't know if anyonr will see this or not but I am going to be painting my headlight housing black and I can't decide if I should keep my shrouds silver or paint them black.. I was also thinking carbon fiber wrapped shrouds and swoosh like nut_n_much has done. Can you guys post me some pics of red 370s with either options?
