Big rock chip
 

This is from a rock that a tractor trailer kicked up a few weeks ago. It's right behind the driver's side B-pillar on the hatch.

Any thoughts on how to handle it? I think I need to touch this one up since it's pretty bad.

thats a nasty one...
if you have a bottle of touch up paint, you can go with several thin layers to build it up, but youll need to clean it up first. Give yourself clean edges to work with...

I am waiting on the dealer here to get my touchup paint A54 being shipped to dealership on tuesday...

How much does a bottle run you? I will swing by the dealership tomorrow.

he never told me, but the the touch up bottle i got for the mach1 was around 10 bucks.

I was worried that happened yesterday on your way home from the get together. That would have been horrible. Not that it isn't already....hope you're able to fix it!

I got free bottle at delivery, I think he said it was $25 a bottle.

Holy crap that is bad. WTF? I would have to get that LP and kills someone.

If you're on a budget..cause I know, the recession...ask your g/f, wife, mother, sister, cross dresser buddy to loan you some red nail polish--much cheaper and quicker than touch up paint.

Besides, it's on the edge of a panel, not the surface. :tup:

its 8 bucks here...so i would assume the dealership will be the same...but they dont have our color code listed yet (A54)

I am probably going to use that for the light chipping I have on my hood/nose. But for this one I probably need a good bit of touch up paint.

You get a good sized can of paint with the kit. Probably more than you do from the factory. I think the only difference between the kits is the amount of blending solution that comes with each one.

Well I ordered touch-up paint so we'll see how it goes. I am probably going to have to get some grittier polish as well to try and get it as close to stock-looking as possible.

Will do. I'm just going to have to take my time and layer it up and polish it smooth.

Touch-up paint is in. I may give it a go this weekend. Need to stock up on some rubbing compound.

Damn that is a nasty little chip there m4a'. I hope the Touch-up paint works well for you mate. Definitely keep us posted on the end result mate, could come in handy for some of us.

Thank Goodness that it wasn't worse like a rock thru the windshield and touch-up will hide most of it.

I'll try to get a pic or two tomorrow. This was months ago and I only put two coats on, but it looks way better than it did... LOL.

Man, that's nothing. I had one literally the size of a quarter on my old '07 G35 and it took a panel repaint to make right. Have fun touching yours up!
