Is this how a ClearBra should look?

Just had a ClearBra installed on my new Z last week. The picture isn't that great but you can see the imperfection near the front edge of the hood. The pic doesn't show it but these actually run all along the leading edge of the hood. Is this the way this process should turn out? I haven't had it done before.

The installer said to give it a few days in the sun to settle out, which I have, but I don't see it changing. Time for a redo?

It shouldn't look like that. I've got a few of those because the dealer I bought the car from farmed out the clear bra work to rank amateurs. Coincidentally, it happened in your neck of the woods.

Nope. Should no loo like that.

It looks like they might have heated up or stretched the material too much. I have never seen a flawless clear bra so don't expect perfection but if it bothers you that much and it is worth your time, take it back.

kenchan 07-23-2013 03:29 PM

should look like this... (flawless)

btw i installed mine a few weeks ago. :p

Definitely should not look like that and I've had mine for 2 years and it looks near perfect

FairladyZ10PG 07-23-2013 05:28 PM

My clearbra has such imperfections but it didn't bother me that much so I just left it.

EZT 07-23-2013 07:24 PM

Kenchan, that looks awesome man.

That really does look perfect, Kenchan, great work.

Thanks all for the responses. I'm heading back for a redo......:ugh2:

Chuck33079 07-23-2013 10:25 PM

Your installer wasn't the one a dealer (who shall not be named, but is active on the forums) in that area sends all their cars to, was it?

Hey Kechan,

I'm assuming you are from Ontario since you are sponsored by Alcheng.

Just wondering where you got that done? The ones on mine are starting to haze and lift a little from the previous owner. Looking to replace it.

Thanks!

dennis26 07-24-2013 12:54 PM

Mine was installed 2 yr. ago. It still looks perfect.

Chuck33079 07-24-2013 12:55 PM

Make sure you polish the car really well before you put the bra on.

COSMO 07-24-2013 02:58 PM

I have been thinking about getting a clear bra but not sure which one to order? Any suggestions on a brand? links?

Chuck33079 07-24-2013 03:05 PM

I'd have a good local installer handle it. It's not an easy DIY. 3m and venture shield seem to be the most common brands.

kenchan 07-24-2013 04:08 PM

xpel ultimate is what i used per recommendation by xpel himself. i think he's a vendor or a sponsor or something.

it has self-healing surface so swirls from fingers, towels, you see a lot on clearbras dissappears.

PapoZalsa 07-27-2013 06:59 PM

Mine still 99.5% perfect after 2 yrs,

If you aren't having luck where you went, Mark at Clear Autobra on Kirkham road in Webster does excellent work. If this is where you went, he should redo it no problems!

zefaulter 08-11-2013 12:39 PM

My clear bra looks like orange peel. it was done by some douche at the dealer 6 months ago. it's started peeling.

kenchan 08-12-2013 11:18 AM

is there warranty on the material or work? i would start there.

damian_mb 08-12-2013 12:28 PM

Mines looks perfect with no imperfections at all. They had me go over their work before they wanted my money and let me drive off.

mults 08-12-2013 01:17 PM

Mine covers about 3/4 of the car and I defy anyone to tell where it is installed. Yours may smooth out a little in the heat, but it should have NO ripples if it is installed correctly.
