well i just wanted to post a thread about how nissan ruined my Z.
the literally put the liscence plate screws threw my bumper....
thanks alot -_- (yes im picky)

red2010z 07-19-2013 01:31 AM

They do that for every state that requires 2 plates. Unless of course you tell them no. Happen to me.

Wonka2581 07-19-2013 02:05 AM

If the dealer did that I would walk my a** in there and demand a new bumper! And for the trouble I would demand a free clear bra... Just sayin

Z370Z011 07-19-2013 02:19 AM

sucks for you guys, haven't seen that here in cali.......YET.

karotZ 07-19-2013 02:49 AM

Before I buy any car, I tell the dealer while inspecting it first or during ordering is not to tamper with the front bumper even if it involves the plates. When a dealer complains, I tell them I have a mounting kit.

falconfixer 07-19-2013 05:42 AM

My dealer did the same thing and it made baby Jesus cry.

Blizzard 07-19-2013 06:10 AM

Dealer did the same thing to my car !!!!

Chuck33079 07-19-2013 07:04 AM

After being told many times not to, the dealer I bought mine from drilled the holes and ruined the clear bra under the corners of the front plate. They sent me home with a "we owe" ticket to get it repaired. Since I was coming in from out of state and was at the dealership already, I dealt with it. Once I got home, the dealer decided not to honor the "we owe". Also, the lifetime warranty on the window tint the salesman was so proud of expired at the state border, as I found out when the corner of the passenger window started peeling up. Jackasses.

Bret86944 07-19-2013 08:28 AM

Crap, you are lucky. My dealer put the same holes as you, but used too long of bolts on the top of the plate and they went back into the painted part of the bumper. So I have holes in the plastic part and gouges in the paint. Of course I drove 250 miles to pick the car up and didn't realize the paint scratches till I got home.

Chuck33079 07-19-2013 08:30 AM

Mine would be gouged, but the clear bra took that bullet. Honestly, the holes and ruined clear bra didn't bother me as much as changing their mind about paying for it did. If I had bought a round trip ticket I'd have probably told them where to stick the car and caught a cab back to the airport.

enkei2k 07-19-2013 08:47 AM

Just get a full aftermarket front bumper (like Amuse) and problem solved.

kenchan 07-19-2013 09:38 AM

yep, i noticed this too when i put my front plate bracket on that the screws that comes with the package is too long.

that said, it's nissan's fault, not your dealer. ofcourse your dealer could put more care into it, but you're talking about porters installing those things at low wage using cordless drivers doing the work as fast as they can to keep their managers and customers happy.

nissan should've included a shorter screw.

It's Nissan's fault the screws are too long. It's the dealer's fault when they're told not to drill the bumper and they do it anyway.

red2010z 07-19-2013 11:52 AM

i hated the front plate. So I just took it off and I don't really notice the holes in the bumpers.

mults 07-19-2013 12:20 PM

Ohio is talking about doing away with the front plate, and I think it is going to happen. I'll be glad to get rid of the front plate because they look like doodoo :gtfo2:.

ka24king 07-19-2013 12:37 PM

ya thats happened to me b4 i was pissed !!!!!

Dwight Frye 07-19-2013 05:49 PM

If the dealer just drilled holes in the divots that are already in the black plastic part of the bumper, not a big deal. They can be covered with little plastic plugs for a couple bucks and not be noticeable.
But, I have seen them run long screws through the plate and bracket and the tips from the screws gouge the bumper cover. I told the dealer that I would not buy a car with that damage done to it. Numbskulls....

Look at the pic closer. They don't do that to everyone!! They drilled his white bumper, not the black bumper piece where the plates supposed to go with the divot holes already there to be drilled.

I'd be ******* pisssed and they'd be painting my bumper.

10MPlayer 07-19-2013 07:44 PM

Yeah, I think I'd demand they repair and repaint the bumper. You're right, that's just plain ignorant. Mine has a black plastic deal that the plate screws into. We don't have the option of leaving off the front plate in Cali.

those small holes are from the screws that went past the j-nut on the top holes of the plate. they didn't really drill the white part, i dont think. just aftermath of screw thread tip hitting it.

check the diy section on how the front plate is mounted id you'd like.

Hope so, but I haven't had a front plate since I started driving in 99 and I've never had a problem. Got pulled over once and his PC was tint and plate but let me go cause he found nothing in the car.

L33T Z34 09-04-2013 12:42 AM

F@WK Dealers! :shakes head:

///PureSwank 09-04-2013 02:56 AM

I hate it when you show up to the dealer in this case ANY dealer. Audi, BMW, Chevy, Dodge, etc and you see nothing but tattood up thugs in the back area about to work on your baby. **** happens all the time.

Not surprised because their has always been some sort of correlation between mechanics and low income individuals. Not saying all mechanics are low income persons. And not stating that low income persons are thugs. I was low income for a long time. Rant closed.

I have, but I'm happy to put it out there again. It's Fusz Nissan.

blackcherry20 09-04-2013 05:30 PM

Another Ohio member, Danegrey, got Nissan to replace his bumper after the dealer drilled holes in it. Worth a try ;)

Chuck33079 09-04-2013 05:34 PM

I bought the car a year and a half ago. It's probably way too late for that by now. Ill settle for putting my experience out there every chance I get.

6MT-Z34 09-04-2013 06:11 PM

When I ordered my car I told my sales guy that I didn't want any holes on my front bumper that I know its required by the state but I told him that I will be buying a bracket, a few weeks before the car arrived I remined him again ...luckly when I went to pick up the car he handed me the bracket for the front license plate and told me we haven't drill any holes on your bumper ...great dealership great salesmen great service too

Sorry to hear that about your bumper I was on top of my sales guy about vin, eta, and license plate lol

sylpher 09-04-2013 07:06 PM

I actually got lucky on mine. Though the car was not new (I bought it used), the General Sales Manager of the dealership in VA I bought the car from was a car nut and appreciated cars. He gave specific instructions to his guys at the dealership not to put a license plate bracket on the front of the car and not to put a dealership sticker on it either. It's good to know that there are folks in dealerships out there that still share the same tastes as we do.

Sorry to hear about your bumper... :(
