Nissan rear hamburger sign
 

I want to replace my rear Nissan hamburger sign with a Z one that I am looking at from the Z store. It says that the rear bumper fascia, behind the rear emblem near the left and right edges, are two (one per side) non-critical small "nipples" for positioning of the factory emblem. These can be trimmed before installation simply (a small knife or razor will work fine).

Has anyone done this and are the two nipples the only think that is needed to be removed. The link to the logo is below.

By the sounds of it? Yes

It seems like the ones the Z store carries have no guide holes built into them like the stock emblems.

Yes, once you remove the nissan burger, the only thing you need to remove using a knife are those two dents that stick out to place those emblems since the backing plate is a solid piece.

Thinkin about takin my logo off too. How difficult is it to knife away those dents and make it flush? Taking a knife to my car scares me! :eekdance:

STOP!!!!! Do not take a knife to your car! Use fishing string. And or look up the DIY on it.

no way can fishing line or string smooth those bumps out bud.. they're pretty solid pieces of fiberglass. They pretty much have to be chopped off or ground down (small hand held belt grinder / sander)

Oh I thought he was attempting to take the burger its self off with a knife.

First off to remove the Emblem?

Use dental floss or fishing string and work the whole perimeter once it's loose enough pull it off, and remove the left over adhesive with goop.

You could use a utility knife or exacto knife to cut the guide out or use a Dremel grinder, And grind it off.

Be very carefully with whatever approach you feel comfortable with :ugh2:.

:bowrofl: I know about the fishing line method! I was just confused about using the knife to cut the bumps. Just curious. I don't even know if I am going to do this as I don't want to over Z it on the rear. (370Z logo, Z vanity plate)

I dont think it over "Z's" it on the back if you get the emblems. I have it and have a z logo on the license plate cover as well and think it still looks good. Like everyone said, fishing line or dental floss to remove the emblem, and then a knife or dremel to grind down the bumps to fit the new emblem on. I actually dremeled mine down but could have easily just used a knife. Trust me its easy and not scary at all, plus even if you mess up a bit, it doesnt matter, no one will see behind the emblems with the backing plate that is on there. As you can see in the pic below all mistakes will be covered up by the emblem.

It helps if you warm the area with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive. Then work the floss behind the badge. At some point, you will be able to lift the badge slowly.

I used a Dremel to knock down the nubs.

Take your time and you won't have any problems. :tup:

How about the front? Similar fitment?

The front requires no cutting or notching down any bumps.. The front sits flush from the rip

Does anybody know where I can get the emblems for the front and the rear that look like the side Z fender blinkers (same color black background silver Z). I had seen them on a thread but had no luck in finding it. Thanks

Thanks But do you happen to know if they make that emblem with a silver outer ring. Not a carbon fiber outer ring. Like the ones provided in the links. So it’s a dead on match like the fender ones. Thanks again.

oh man lol maybe... you'd be best contacting that business, or EVO-R.. But I've heard that hell will more than likely freeze over before you get a response from EVO-R..

You could also just get this one and either paint or lay vinyl down on the outer rim.. Bam!!!

I'm going to order these. I like them a little better.
