Nismo front end conversion findings

there are a few threads on this and they all have many many pages. This may have been said but if not, I didnt know which one to place it in.

I was playing in the garage with my Nismo conversion and found something.

The Nismo undertray is NOT compatible with the sport/base wheel liners. As a matter of fact, the stock undertray will work better and easier for 1/10th of the cost.

The difference between the nismo under tray and the stock undertray is the addition of "wings". These wings are actually already part of the sport/base wheel liners. Pictures below...

This is the stock base/sport undertray

You can see the differences. A few holes dont line up, but thats easily remedied by simply drilling a couple of holes. The other difference which is the most notable is the addition of "wings" on the Nismo.

However, a quick glance at the wheel well liners...

Again this may have been said before, but with those "wings" being part of the base/sport wheel liners, the nismo undertray will not bolt to them.

So in conclusion, in order to use the nismo undertray one would need to order the nismo wheel liners. In this case, I think the easiest route to take would be to use the base/sport undertray and modify it by drilling the few holes that dont line up and calling it good.

and yes... I already bought new tires lol just waiting on someone to be able to align this car before putting them on. So far no one has been able to get it onto a rack :(

yep exactly. The wheel well liners are pretty cheap though, so you could go that route. But it is cheaper/easier to just mod the existing wheel well liners and drill 4 holes to mount the splash shield. You can sell this one to a Nismo owner...

Hey Brandon:

How did this turn out? Did you end up just using your base liners etc. with the Niz bumper? I'm thinking about going with either Niz or Amuse rep bumpers.

BTW: You did receive those burgers ok?

Thanks,

Paul

If you decide to go with the Nismo front bumper, do yourself a BIG favor and spring for the Nismo fender liners (front half) and the ZSpeed undertray.

Trust me on this one.

I plan on going this route. So what you listed above is all that we would need to do the conversion? Ive seen the list of parts before and it was A LOT of parts.

Negative, go with the extended list of parts AND the pieces I mentioned. You can modify the existing parts, but you really need the ZSpeed undertray for the front bumper rigidity.

For what this costs, the extra $150 for the front fender;loner halves is worth it.
