Underbody plastic cover/shield replacement

I had bottomed out the car pretty bad and eventually the plastic cover under the car had to be taken off. Is this an easy fix if I just buy a new one? Also, am I fine to drive without it for the time being?

Z Speed Performance Aluminum Undershroud

Will last a lot longer

Buy the ZSpeed metal one. You want something under under there. It protects the bottom of the engine, and adds some support to the front bumper.

:iagree: with the guys above: ZSpeed Aluminum Undershroud FTW (you can even get it in black if you want).

That's what I did. The finish holds up well to debris impacts. I also got the stainless hex head bolts for it so I don't eventually round off the OEM bolts taking the tray on and off.

if you are bottoming out and hitting the under engine splash shield, I dont think an aluminum one is a good idea. Best get a new plastic one. It's more forgiving to dents and scrapes.

Here's the OEM part:
Lower Engine Splash Shield

Edit: It should be fairly easy to replace, but I've never done it. It's considered part of the cooling system and the aerodynamics - keep an eye on temps and watch for front-end "float" at high speeds.

What do you guys think about rhino lining the ZSpeed metal cover? I might do this with the bottom part of the lip whenever I replace mine.

I still have my old plastic one that was damaged, maybe it's possible to fix it? Some of the holes where it was screwed in got damaged though

Chuck33079 06-10-2013 08:46 PM

Just buy the metal one. It's money well spent.

You can get the ZSpeed one Black Powder Coated, that's what I did. It's great!
