roof replacement accident by the shipping company
Dont ask me how, but the shipping company damaged the roof and rear trunk lid on my z. Anyone know if the roof is steel or aluminum on our car? If the damage is bad enough, I am going to sell it

aluminum
|
maybe get it replaced to drycarbon roof?
|
wow that sucks cossie. :( you just recently swapped the HU and all too.
|
Pics?
|
I thought we had a thread on recommendations for a good shipping Company....It seems like there aren't any...
|
I honestly don't know much as I haven't seen the car. They probably dropped a ramp on it or something when they tried to load the top. Sigh I know my $hit luck was going to begin somewhere. If the damage is heavy, I am going to get it fixed and sell it.

:shakes head: sucks

Since I don't know anything in the new area, might as well look for the shop with the highest per hour charge to get it fixed. They were talking about giving me $40 a day for a rental, they better give me more than a Corolla.

Where in SoCal are you? |
$40 gets you a subcompact. I am in Nor Cal

And damn, I don't know any shops there |
Steel and bottom line a hassle to fix. They stepped on it.
|
Maybe they used your car as a ramp?
|
sue the shipping company if they are not fixing the damage(unless you signed a waiver)
|
In for pics... That sucks brother, keep us posted on the out come... I would sue for a new car!
|
They will fix the damage through their insurance, but the car is not the same after. It might look fine for 2-3 years, but it will be different a few years from now.

I have a new roof and hatch on mine.. Depending on who does the work and how bad it is, may not be so bad. I had to have mine reskinned, and they left all the support there. You pretty much cannot tell my car had any work on it, even matched the paint perfectly. Regarding the car going bad in 3 years, yea it's a 370Z, not a carton of milk. This is nonsense. Any good body shop will warranty their work for life.

what part of Nor-Cal are you in? |
San Jose.
What good does a lifetime warranty do when the paint peels every year and the paint doesn't match, so I can take it back in every year to have it resprayed? |
I was just thinking about you the other day when I was experiencing fuel starvation.
I'm sorry to read this thread. San Jose ought to have plenty of body shops that can handle it. Ask one of those two Z specialists whom they'd recommend perhaps. A custom paint job may be in all our futures. Good luck. |

Nissan has THE WORST paint I have ever seen (aside from black Pry-uses). So almost no one can do worse. And when you have new pieces the quality of paint will be amazing, and as for matching, and shop worth it's salt can match anything, I don't know why every bítches and moans about pearl white and this that being three stage and what not. A body shop should be able to match it easily. And I'm SURE there is at LEAST one shop in ALLLLLLL of Nor Cal that can paint a body panel. You even said that you're going to sell the car after the pieces get replaced and painted, if you're still worried, sue for devaluation, although there really isn't any because it's not going to go on the CarFax, (in reality, it's only devalued to you)
