Is it a good idea to buy a damaged Nismo wing?

I can purchase an authentic Nismo Wing (not S-tune) for a third of the cost of a new one.

It has a small crack on the back edge and does not include any hardware.

What material is the Nismo wing made of, and can the crack be fixed?

How easy is it to get mounting hardware, or can I use the the same as was used to mount the sport spoiler?

Thank you.

if you know how to do body work im sure that's not a bad route to go.

if you're asking questions, probably best you pay the full price for a new or used one with hardware.

I have no idea on how to do body work.

I know that polyurethane can not be repaired, so I am wondering if the Nismo wing is polyurethane.

I would need to get it painted anyway, so if it can be fixed then it's a great deal.

I think the S-tune one is made of ABS or factory OE material...whatever that may be. I'm sure the nismo oem one is the same. Will you be drilling holes? Templates are nice to have for those sort of thinks....On the other hand if you will ever be going to the track...stay away from the cracked used one even if can be repaired!!

Call your local dealer and see how much it would be for them to do the repair - body work - mount - and paint.

Then ask how much it'd be to mount and body work and paint a new one.

That way you have a worst case scenario price since the dealer is usually the most expensive way to go.

Compare pricing of spoilers and their related labor and see if its worth it.

Can't get a Nismo wing in Canada.

New wing in the US is ~$2400 plus instal and paint. This would be way cheaper, assuming it can be fixed.

If I get a Seibon wing (EVO-R is too tall IMO), the overall cost will probably be the same as this Nismo wing.

Sport package holes will already be there.
Our only race track close two years ago.

Is it a bad idea to purchase used condom? ;)

Listen to Kenchan, 20 times out of 10 his advice are great

2/3 rds of $2000 is $680. Can't you just buy a evo r for less with no work needing done? Or is the wing really really cheap? I'd only do it if I was paying around $300. After fixing you might be $600 into it which should be cheaper than a evo r after paint if you go that route.

synolimit 06-03-2013 12:52 PM

Nvm we were typing same time. I'd still only do it if the wing was a couple hundred. Nissan can get bent and pound salt for thinking they can sell that stuff for that price!

EVO-R is not to my liking. But it still needs to be painted. So $600 shipped plus paint and install.

My other choice is Seibon - $800 shipped plus paint and install.

This one is around $500. Even if it costs $1000 to fix and point, I am still in the same ball park.

I just saw $491 shipped. If you don't like it though than no worries. Is the carbon fiber version all CF? If so I wouldn't paint it. But again if to high forget it.

I'd say fix and paint at most shops will be around $300-500

diddy535 06-03-2013 01:20 PM

You sure sport holes are the same for the nismo wing too?

cooltoy 06-03-2013 01:25 PM

No idea.

You have to remember that Canada is on a another planet, so shipping would be high.
