Baking headlamps or paint thinner on hamburgers
Here's the hilarious result (I was warned) of the front of the Z from turning the chrome to red-chrome:

Or, bake the headlamps and: 2) Black Carbon Fiber with Red-Chrome shrouds 3) Black Carbon Fiber with Red-Chrome shrouds and strip or 4) Black Chrome with Red-Chrome shrouds and strip Ref: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7297/8...1c8e2f7f_b.jpg |
The red badges in back look pretty good; they go with the red of the tail lights. Try the same up front. Leave the hamburger red and do the headlights. I vote for the last one but only because I don't like cosmetic-only CF. If you still don't like the red hamburger after doing the lights, you can go back to chrome. YMMV

Polish the paint...
EDIT: On topic, the first option with black and red shrouds looks best. Not a fan of painting the strip too, keep it simple! |

Yeah, the strip would be a bit much Edit: Here's black chrome without the red strip: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7294/8...f2060620_b.jpg |
Black chrome with just red shrouds would be awesome. What kind of paint are you suing for the chrome?

Reference1. Reference2: http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m...n/photo-32.jpg Duplicolor also makes a 'Smoke' which might work (non anodized I believe). might have to clean my testing candle stick holders and see the results of each. Reference |
Love the black chrome idea, but no red in the lights. Flat black shrouds.
