rearview mirror not going up?

I just had my rearview mirror+backup camera installed at the dealer.
Everything looks fine except, mirror doesnt want to go up all the way and it seems like it keeps drooping down. Also it feels a little flimsy. it clicks when i move it around to adjust the mirror.

Is anybody else having the same problem as me?

Nope. I bought mine from a forum member here, installed myself, and remember how difficult it was to get onto the base. Once on, there was NO movement and solid as crap. Odd.

did you pay almost a grand for parts/install?

Give it a little Viagra then take it back to the dealer. They will take care of it.

Just remember if after four hours and it hasn't gone back to feeling flimsy to seek medical help? :icon14:

I work at the company that makes those mirrors (Gentex), and am an R and D Engineer. The mirror should not be floppy, however, they are also not meant to withstand earth shattering bass from an aftermarket sub either. Can you give me the part number off the back of the mirror? Should start with 905- or 925-

street2soul 03-04-2013 10:24 PM

the camera shakes side to side, up and down and rattles when i shake it very lightly. it wasn't present on the original mirror. It doesn't hurt when driving, but quite iritating knowing the fact that camera is flimsy. i'll check the part number for it

a6walter1 03-04-2013 11:08 PM

is it just a RCD (rear camera display) mirror? or does it have a front facing camera as well?

street2soul 03-04-2013 11:26 PM

999Q6VX300 just the rear camera display. it's an option at nissan for touring and nismo models.

rearview mirror moves up and down making plastic chatter noise when i touch up slightly. do you think it could be the screw is not tightened enough? it's very hard to determine what causes the mirror to be loose.

a6walter1 03-04-2013 11:50 PM

there should be a torx (T5 maybe??) that you can try to tighten, but dont over tighten because it could crack your windshield.

as for the part number, that does not appear to be a Gentex P/N, maybe it's a knock off mirror?

I thought it was a genuine nissan factory mirror. I've seen this part number quite alot from other forum members as well.

This is the part
999Q6-VX300 - Nissan 370Z IN MIRROR

Yep, I know the mirror, did you try tightening the screw that holds it to the windscreen? When you do that, make sure its seated all the way in its mount. If that doesnt work, I would take it back to the dealer and ask for a new one.

I would love to say yes, but I currently do not know if I could legally buy them and sell them, I will look into it.
