D2S or D4S?????

Is there a difference between the D2S and the D4S?
I went to VLeds.com and was checking the 6000K bulbs but i would like the ones with the blue tint, but it only cames on the D4S.
Would it make a difference? if it does, which should i buy?

You should stick to the D2s bulbs. D4s, as far as I know, are the Mercury free versions of the D2s bulb. They physically have the same shape/size, therefore are able to be plugged into the stock ballast, but I've also heard that D4s bulbs require their own special ballast apart from the D2s ballasts. You're reducing your lumens/light output with replacing the 4300k stock bulbs with 6000k bulbs, using a Hg-free version will reduce that even further, at last from what I've read.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

what do you think is better? the 6000k or the 8000k ? and those the white look better than the ones with the blue tint?

OMGWTFBBQ 07-14-2009 11:14 AM

I'd go with the 6000k to be honest.

You get rid of that "yellowish" hue that many people complain about with 4300k bulbs, but don't go too far off into the blue range. That, and your light output will be better with 6000k vs 8000k. The 6000k bulbs still have a slight blue tint to them.

Get the Phillips Ultinon 6000k bulbs. Great quality, although definitely on the expensive side.

Def 6000 or 6500 range. 8000 is too blue IMO.

I'm on 8000K and its perfect for me. However, it's really about what YOU want, and not what other people think. It is your car after all!

Personally I've used 8k and it may look cool and all but you lose visibility because of the higher range 6k would be a nicer choice just my 2 pennies.

Puma0183 07-16-2009 10:34 AM

could you post some pics with the 8000k to see them on the car?
I already ordered all the bulbs but the headlights and i would like to order them and change them out at the same time. But can really decide.

I'll try to get some for you...

Some bulbs are made in China, some in germany, and mine are made in Korea. Personally I found the ones made in China always blowing and off "spec" with regards to colour and the ones from Germany too expensive.

Mine are Korean ones which are cheap and good! I paid $150 Singapore dollars which is about USD$100 for the Xenon bulbs, colour matching LED sidemarkers, installed, and 1 year warranty.

I dunno, the stock 4300K bulbs look kinda blue-white to me...then again, I'm not used to HID lights.

Bster 07-22-2009 02:45 AM

Some pictures of the 8000k HID bulbs...

Sorry it took so long, but better late than never!
