HID D2S bulb help please
Hey guys, I have tired to replace me stock HID blubs 3-4 times already and nothing seems to be working. I don't want to name names of companie I got them from don't want any trouble(don't know if they are sponsors here or not). But I keep ordering them and sending them back they say their products work but as soon as I install it on my car it doesn't work. Is there a special D2S or it is a regular D2S bulb? When I install it and turn it on the bulb does not light up when I turn the high beams on it flashes on and off after. I even tried to disconnect the battery start the car then turn them on NOTHING. Could someone help me with this please. I have a 2012 base model 370z 6mt nothing special. And I have done this before on other cars so I know what I'm doing and I never touched the bulb or anything like that.
Thank you someone help please. |
Did you put the stock ones back on? and tested it?
|
Yes sir I tried both side on off, stock then aftermarket then stock again nothing seems to be working stocks always work aftermarket doesn't.

shitty aftermarket...

Could just be crappy bulbs..
I would order D2S bulbs from another company entirely.. i reccomend theretrofitsource Morimoto 35W (5000k or 6000k) bulbs. OEM quality and i highly reccomend them. D2S: Morimoto 3Five (35w) - HID Bulbs from The Retrofit Source Inc |

8000k is too blue if you ask me and very little output.. 6000k is highest i'd go for that exotic white/blue tint look.

I mean I'm sure Nissan guys picked a good one that is a good balance of cost, reliability, and light output. Stick with stock. Otherwise you'll be driving in an aquarium. |
i would buy some philips 6k and thats the highest id go.

As stated above go with a nice phillips 6K bulb as the color and light output will be a perfect comprimise... 8K is too high Keep it classy on the Z |
Nothing wrong with 8k's

I got mine from a forum sponsor for a great deal. Work great no issues and he offers great customer service.
Attachment 59304 Here's the thread link where I got mine. Plenty of people happy with their order. http://www.the370z.com/body-interior...-shipping.html |

Here's a comparison to the stock 4300k's
Attachment 59305 Now 4300k's do produce the most lumens. Each level you go up you lose output but I didn't notice to much of difference between 6's and 8's brightness wise and I preferred the color of the 8's so I stuck with them and matched LED parking light bc the stock one looks horrible next to the blue of the 8000k's |
Thank you everyone I think I'm going to go with the 6K

Kinda on topic: what's up with the bulbs that Jim Wolf is selling for like $35 for the pair? Are those complete trash?

Hey guys from what I found out is that cars after 2012 have issues with aftermarket bulbs. My friend just bought a 2013 g37 same problem as mine bulbs go in high beam comes on then off and then doesn't work. Spoke to a few people they told me the same thing I still have not found a solution yet I might as well stay stock :/
|
Nah we have compatibility issues with cheap bulbs, the mashita gen 4 ballasts is what we have and isn't compatible with bulbs that are even a bit out of spec. I think you can bend the pins or something in the ballasts to make contact better but I rather not.
For some reason Phillips and oem bulbs work perfect |
Interesting. thanks for the update
I bought a cheap pair on Ebay in fall...I was having the same problem you were...wasn't going on, or sometimes only one side goes on etc. I went to 6000K and I must say much brighter than my stock, but I think its also because my housing is painted, so I lost some brightness. Anyways, probably going to buy a pair from JWM just incase as these ones I have seem unstable and once its out of storage I just want to drive it worry free lol get what you pay for i guess lol |

Yea that's what I read I will probably either get something high end or just stay stock for now and just paint my headlights or something. off topic sorry I didn't make your meet last time been working like crazy. Quote:

im coming across same issue as op. oems work fine but when i go with the aftermarket hid 6k it turns on for a second then back off. drivers side works but not passenger.
ive gone back to vendor and the service is great but product is deficient. im not sure if its an issue with the relay. i read that 180headlights was looking up on the issue. |
My 2012 Z will work with the aftermarket bulbs MOST OF THE TIME, every once and a while I have to switch the lights on and off for both to light up. Now my wife's 2013 Altima doesn't like any after market bulbs at all. They come on then shut right off. I've tried three diffrent brand sets.
